*** Forum Update - Official Issues Thread - Please check the OP for known issues ***

Is someone working on the back end at the moment?

Just logged on and I was greeted by was a message saying the forums were being updated and currently unavailable.

Left it 5 mins and refreshed and presto.

I think you answered your own question ;)

I was asking more to understand whether it was a server glitch or not, because let's face it, there's been quite a few of late.

Additionally when you guys plan to work on the forum you generally post up a message prior.

But hey, you carry on with the sarcasm if that's what you need to feel superior.

I wasn't being sarky, sorry you felt that you way. You genuinely did answer your own question.

When that message is displayed, it's because it's in maintenance mode deliberately. The gateway timeouts we've had recently are not the forum in maintenance mode, it's completely different.

Can I ask why it is like that in the case of specifically selecting a link?

Like, I get that it can be helpful to embed the tweet in the case of a user pasting in the URL and not selecting anything - just saves time, etc..

But in the case of someone specifically typing [URL ] in BB code or selecting "link" from the menu then overriding that/converting that into [Media ] tabs seems rather less useful - the user clearly just wanted a link in that case.

Started getting Cloudflare verification check when opening the forum page.

No real problem as the forums still work ok after clicking the check box, just wondering if this is happening to anyone else.

We have been hit by relentless bot swarms recently so have some additional checking to stop them crashing the forums.

I see the issue of threads still opening at the last posted image, not your last read post still hasn’t been squashed.
What bowser/OS?
I've not noticed it on Chrome/Windows apart from when it's a thread i've not been in for IIRC 30 days (when it defaults to sending me to the first post).

Not sure what the last posted image issue is, but default ZF behaviour is to take you to post 1 if the thread hasn't been viewed for some time.

Not quite forum related, but while I'm here, I think the cookie banner on the main website breaks the site if you're running ublock origin lite or ghostery or something similar.

Search breaks, the tabs for product specs break etc.

I don't have this on any other website. I've tried disabling certain plugins, but still to no avail, it means I have to use an incognito window every time I want to browse the shop, which is every annoying. I've not tried to troubleshoot in detail. It's been like this for quite a long time now.

Windows 11 Chrome for sure. I can check if it's mac too though if need be.

It's probably a filter list causing the issue. The way I would diagnose it would be to disable all the lists, then enable the ones you had enabled one-by-one until the problem occurs again. Be aware that it might be more than list.

Once you find the culprit lists, I'm not sure how you would stop the problem recurring while keeping the culprit lists enabled. I'm sure somebody here would help, though.
