Is someone working on the back end at the moment?

Just logged on and I was greeted by was a message saying the forums were being updated and currently unavailable.

Left it 5 mins and refreshed and presto.

I was asking more to understand whether it was a server glitch or not, because let's face it, there's been quite a few of late.

Additionally when you guys plan to work on the forum you generally post up a message prior.

But hey, you carry on with the sarcasm if that's what you need to feel superior.

I wasn't being sarky, sorry you felt that you way. You genuinely did answer your own question.

When that message is displayed, it's because it's in maintenance mode deliberately. The gateway timeouts we've had recently are not the forum in maintenance mode, it's completely different.

Can I ask why it is like that in the case of specifically selecting a link?

Like, I get that it can be helpful to embed the tweet in the case of a user pasting in the URL and not selecting anything - just saves time, etc..

But in the case of someone specifically typing [URL ] in BB code or selecting "link" from the menu then overriding that/converting that into [Media ] tabs seems rather less useful - the user clearly just wanted a link in that case.
