What film did you watch last night?

The Way We Were (1973)

A film made when you could stick two bigs stars together in a romance and people would watch regardless. Apart from a decent performance from Streisand and an Oscar winning song, there's not a lot else to enjoy apart from trying to place younger looking actors in roles you've seen them in before. Definitely a product of its time and not worth your time if you've never seen it before.

4/10

Superman (2025) - 6/10

A different style of story with a few more characters from the DC Universe in but as the film starts halfway through the plot, there isn’t much of an explanation as to who these characters are or why they’re there. As such, it feels like ‘just another day in Metropolis’ rather than an epic Superman adventure.

The story boils down to the same old themes and whilst it effectively balances the emotional human side with the light hearted humor, the plot didn’t really engage me.

It was entertaining enough with plenty of action and solid special effects, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other iterations of Superman I’ve seen.

Also saw it last night and echo the above almost exactly.

Quite how this has 82%/94% on RT is beyond me.

Superman - 7.5/10
Enjoyable turn you brain off action. Better than most of the other DC films from the last decade+ and many of the recent Marvel films.
Superman actor was good in the role, same for Lois and Lex.

F1 the Movie - 7/10
You could write the script for this as you go it is that cliched. However it works ok and the visuals and sound are amazing. It didn't feel like almost 2.5 hours long.

They were decent. Only half way through the first LOTR movie

I share the majority opinion than the LOTR trilogy is way better than the Hobbit movies. I watched them at the cinema as they were released and so didn't get the option to view them as you are. I would hope that what you are doing is the better order to watch them and that you have a treat ahead. Will be funny if you end up deciding that you prefer the Hobbit series!
