*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

What are those Rimmats?

Just looked them up - do they really work? The only benefit I could see is that I don't need to drive the car forwards to apply the tyre shine..
-edit, although I guess the cloth, etc. could touch the floor too. Does it really lift the bottom of the tyre clear of the ground?

Yeah, they make washing and dressing the tyre a lot easier, and the rears have a hose guard to stop the pressure washer hose from snagging under the wheel. Are they worth it? That's up to you, I got them cheap and find them handy and worth it.

With the hosepipe ban what are your plans for a clean car? Struggle with buckets from the tap or visit the local car wash?
Spray with traffic film remover or snowfoam from a pump sprayer, and then two bucket wash without the normal in between pressure wash I assume.

Fortunately no hose pipe ban here yet, but been too hot to consider washing the cars anyway

Mobile detailers can still use your hose as not being able to wash your car would impact their business. Its always been like this.

No ban here but my car has been sat still for a couple of weeks and is covered in dusty pollen and rain spots. First overcast morning in weeks here, so decided to give it a snow foam and rinse, but still needs a proper contact wash, the dust/pollen mix is that bad. But the sun came out and it's only going to get dusty again...no sign of any wet weather.

For the average joe that cleans his car maybe once a month, what would you recommend in terms of brushes for wheels and other external crevices, plus interior ones too. (I got an email from Halfords that reminded me to look on their website and their brush set, amongst other items is half price & decently rated).
Plus, I need a new vac for use in the garage and for the car, so looking at a bagless wet/dry vacuum with good attachments and preferably a blower function too.

Pressure washer recommendations? Think my Nilfisk has finally given up, keeps switching on and off constantly.

Ideally with a long hose, metal components and easy to source compatible snow lances (Nilfisk has been a pain for this recently with multiple model and compatibility changes).

Have you taken a look at AVA?

So many wheel brush options at various price points.

If feeling flush then EZ Brush set or Wheel Woolies.

Some like wheel mitts to get into the wheel areas. It depends on the wheels you have as to what works best?

Yeah it's the common sense approach TBH. Having businesses go out of business while half the water supply is lost through leaks anyway doesn't benefit anyone.
