*** The Official AirPods {all gens} (and AirPods Pro [and AirPods Pro 2nd generation]) thread ***

I've been up in the dark north for a wedding, checked out of the hotel this morning and as I drove off I got a 'AirPods left behind' notification on Apple CarPlay. Sure enough, AirPod Pro 2 case left on the bed in the hotel room. Lucky!

My AirPods Pro 2 seem to be misbehaving. Only one of them sometimes charges and sometimes one does not work at all even when making sure they are both put back in the case to charge. This seems to have started pretty recently.

I had the same thing. But I also have a second set of Airpods so I managed to get it working by shoving the faulty one in the second set's case. And it worked immediately! Then putting it back in its own case, it started charging again. Was most bizarre but since that issue a few months ago, it hasn't reoccured.

Every set of AirPods pros have done this for me. (1st gen and 2nd). Thought I was just unlucky twice.
They are better lately, but a lot of the time I would take them out, and only one would connect. So I had to put them both back in, jiggle them about a bit, and take them out again. Then they would both connect. But on some occasions, one would be dead as it never made contact and presumably drained while not in use.

Did the whole thing of trying to clean the contacts, not that they looked bad at all. But they generally seemed to help a bit.

I might get some non-Apple ear buds to tide me over until the AirPod Pro 3 are released. The Bowers and Wikins Pi6 look good but open to suggestion. ANC is the most important thing for me.

Cancelled the Beats Solo Buds as on reflection I really needed ANC. Went with the Beats Fit Pro instead which should last longer and has everything I need.

I ended up ordering some Beats Solo Buds as my AirPods Pro 2 are on the way out. For £80 they should last a decent length of time.
You could have paid the same to get your AirPod Pro 2 replaced by Apple. If they're out of Apple Care, just pay for a battery replacement and you get a 'new' set.

Fair point but I wanted to try something new. I might still get the AirPod Pro 2s repaired or replaced and give them to my Mum if the Pro 3 are released next month (big if).

OK massive noob question here......

Ive never really been fussy over ear buds or headphones and not spent significant money on them other than one of the early Air pods which were ........ fine.

I live in a rural area with little opportunity to actively "test drive" things like these so have always been quite content with the £30 Amazon job or Jlab things from Argos.

This week I happened to be in the Apple shop in Glasgow and tried out a pair of Air pods pro max and holy crap they blew me away! The ANC is amazing and not something Ive really experienced before. Now obviously these are £500 and not the most portable of items. My question is this type of quality only available at this price point? What sort of ANC alternatives are available at a quarter of the price that would do the job, or is it simply a case of you get what you pay for and if you want that, that is the price?

If anyone can suggest a budget pair of in ear and a budget set of headphones that have ANC that works well that would be great and also if anyone can give a view on how much you are upscaling things by going for the Air Pods Pro Max? Also if I bough the actual current Air Pods Pro how does the sound quality and ANC compare to the Pro Max?

Sorry for all the questions. Appreciate any replies.

Bose or Sony XM5/6 are far cheaper and better rated by pretty much everyone.

I personally dont change anything I just plonk them on and away I go. Haven’t used them plugged in to get the flawless/lossless. I only use mine in the house and for on the plane - which I can confirm are great. Previously had Bose qc25 for well over a decade.

I only got mine last month on amazon interest free for 5 payments. Got them for £449. If that’s something that suits you.

If you have a two or more of iPhone/Ipad/imac/MB/TV these are the way to go.

As for in ear, not got a clue but air pod pro 2 are just as awesome and I use them for running/gym/walking the dog etc and they don’t fall out at all.

Thanks.

I like the idea of the pro Max but I dont really have the use case for them. The in ear form I use every single day when I take the dog for a walk or when Im in the kitchen and Mrs Elvis is watching tv while Im cooking or whatever. As much as I love the pro max logic is telling me getting the latest Pros would probably be money better spent.......

Hold off until next week there are strong rumours of pro 3
