What film did you watch last night?

Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)

A forth film in any franchise has no business being this good. It still maintains the high quality action sequences they became known for and the humour that Pesci and Chris Rock add are still just as funny today as they were all those years ago. It's a shame Gibson wasn't interested in a fifth film until his career needed a shot in the alarm, by which time they were all too old anyway.

8/10

I'm glad that it's not just me that still regards this as 'nearly' as good as 2/3.

The scene in the graveyard at the end, Leo comforting Riggs with that story about froggy, was a beautiful moment, and executed perfectly.

I think the ending scene, was also a really nice way to finish things.

I can't believe after all these years i have only seen the first two, will have to put this right.

Thunderbolts (2025)

Either audiences and critics have such low expectations of Marvel films since Endgame or I'm completely missing something. Because this is yet another Marvel turd as far as I'm concerned. There's nothing new, there's no jeapordy, despite a weak attempt to create one early in the film. Everything else just feels by the numbers and clichéd.

The sad thing is I'll, keep watching whatever they turn out because you feel so invested at this point that you just keep thinking the next one will good.

You may not want to see this then :)

Whether it actually happens or not is another matter ...

It wont happen, because Richard Donner is dead.
The boys only came back for each sequel because he begged them as their friend.

That's also the reason they both agreed to star in Maverick.

On November 15, 2021, Gibson confirmed that he is in talks to direct and star in the fifth Lethal Weapon film, saying that he would be helming the film to honor Donner. It was also revealed that Richard Wenk (The Equalizer, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) had drafted a screenplay. The production will be exclusive to Max with no theatrical release.

From Wikipedia

But I saw part of an interview with Gibson not so long back and he said it was dead in the water.

So who knows?

And if I'm honest, I don't really care. The last film ended nicely and if we never get another one then I'm fine with that. If we do, I'll watch it.

Yeah, it ended perfectly. I did reply to you before saying that, but you're selective in what you reply to it seems.

We definitely do not want/nor need another bad cash in sequel like Beverly Hills Cop 4...

Having watched all of the Lethal Weapon films (they're amazing), we really don't need a 5th one. As the saying goes, all good things come to an end.

On that note, I haven't watched the films in years now, so I think I'm overdue a rewatch!

Happy Gilmore 2, you know what yes its stupid, terrible acting, storyline written on back of a fag paper, special effects made by a 2y old, but i laughed, and that makes it ok in my book as made me forget about life for an hr or so

Agreed, was quite surprised at how much of an enjoyable watch it was.

I've only recently finished Stick too which was excellent.

Superman 8/10

I enjoyed that very much and so did the family. I got lots of nostalgia to the Christopher Reeves Superman which meant a lot to me at the ages my kids are now. One thing, there was a lot more swearing than I was expecting someone a couple of years under a 12A would be subjected too - :D. Secondly, we saw it on a Cineworld Superscreen in Leicester Square which was quite the experience. As a viewer I think I prefer SS to IMAX because I feel like I'm watching a tennis match on the latter.

US Marshals (1998)

Still a good film. A bit like 'The Fugitive'.
From what I remember I did like this film. It's been many years since I watched it and I'm hoping this and the rest of the Lethal weapon franchise come out on 4k before a rewatch.

You can't beat a bit of Snipes and TLG in their prime.

Primer - time travel movie.
Bit of a confusing, but interesting movie. Seemed very low buget.
This is actually one my favourite all time SciFi indie films and deals with time travel is a novel way compared to previous films. When I watched it for the first time, I immediately rewatched it as there is a lot going on, and the director, who also starred, purposely made it difficult to make out key dialogue. I also appreciate, it trusts the viewer to make head and tail of it.

Nolan's Tenet clearly lent in to this method of time-travel.

4k irrelevant to me when watching any films let alone older ones. The 1998 pc screens still are 1998 pc screens as are the nokia mobile phones.

the guardian 2006, enjoyable watch about the US coast guard with kevin costner now onto happy gilmore 2, ballerina and dangerous animals these nect few nights

The Old Guard 2

The mostly immortal crew returns for a sequel both less flawed and less interesting than the first. Stronger in style than substance, it's enjoyable but irritatingly incomplete cutting to a hard stop half way through the story.

5/10, would be a 6 but the abrupt stop for the third movie irked me.
