*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I’ve never heard of it. Do you know if it’s hydrophobic? A lot of basic coatings aren’t.

If it isn’t, you’ve got another reason to look at a top up product.

I wouldn’t worry about whether something is better, I’d look at how easy it is to apply.

Both C2 V4 and Beadcoat are dead easy, but will need topping up regularly.
Tbh, I’ve no idea. The water seemed to be beading up quite well when it’s been out in some rain. I think I’ll probably go for C2 v4, used some Gtechniq products in the past and always seemed to work well.

It’s tough when you/one has a ceramic applied which isn’t part of a product ecosystem.

With something like Gtechniq, you can just tell people to use their other products as you know they’ll be safe.

Can’t beat some decent beading. Polar Seal is a great product, you need so little (still on my original bottle from when it first came out) and it takes just a minute max to apply and wash off the car. Leaves a decent shine too, although I will apply UHD wax before the winter.

i cant get it off, I've tried tar/residue remover , and it wont budge

any help appreciated

thanks

Well I’m mighty impressed with that. Far more pressure than my old washer, much more flow, love the short gun, quick and easy to swap attachments. Although my arm was tired by the end!

Bilthamber pre wash (about to run out and switch to touch less)

Autoglym polar wash (the new mitt is indeed heavy, but love how much water it carries with it)

Autoglym polar seal (haven’t used this in ages, forgot what a joy it is to apply)

Looking at the paint I think I’ll wax it soon.

Just bought an AVA Master 2.0 P60 for £289. Not much wrong with the old Titan really other than the high pressure hose getting a pin hole in. Is a lot quieter, the steel reinforced hose is great.

Picked up a karcher to quick release adaptor for my foam canons and nozzles which works well.

I was fearful that 8m wouldn't be enough, but as it stays straight and starts from the top of the machine it's enough to get around the cars.

I had forgotten how good a seal is at keeping a car clean, especially in the summer when the dirt doesn’t stick on quite as much. My car was covered in dust yesterday, but after the rain this morning it is now as clean as when I washed it a week or so ago :)

well using Tar remover worked

left it an hour to soak in, which made it soft

its off ! :)

Great to hear :)

Had a gentleman over this morning from a local car club, who has struggled to get scratches out of the paint on his car.

I invited him over to see what his process was like and see if we could improve it.

He’d picked it up watching various YouTube videos, like we all do.

We went through the process he uses, and I quickly understood why it was taking him 3 days to get round the car & unable to correct a lot of the deeper scratches.

When I showed him the process I use, his jaw dropped.

I wish I could have captured the look on his face when I did half his bonnet in several minutes, removing 95% of the scratches :D

And it got even better when I proved he wouldn’t even need to refine it with the right technique (and paint colour).

I remember going through the same emotions when Kelly showed me the process earlier this year - it goes against a lot of what most videos will tell you to do/not do.

If anyone is local and wants to spend some time going through it, give me a shout :-)

i don't do anything like that, although ive hand polished scratches out before

i noticed underneath both my wing mirrors need a polish, there's something under there that regular cleaning wont touch, its odd what every it is, i think where the previous owner took the car to be cleaned seemed to miss the bits (no contact wash and left to dry) perhaps

I'm thinking of using the GTechniq CSL ceramic costing after seeing Project Farms review of it. Can I use it on wheels too?

Thanks! I'll go for a 50ml pack as that'll give me extra to do the wheels.

What colour car do you have?

Buy their panel wipe for prep too - it’s the best one on the market for removing polish residue before hand.

Then a 50/50 IPA wipe after.

If it’s a dark coloured car get their microfibre applicator pads, if it’s light you can get away with the one in the box.

3 sets of cloths for buffing:

1 to spread
1 to buff excess
1 to final wipe

You’ll need to rotate, probably a stack of 8 for each type of cloth. 4 on each side of the car
