Has anyone played Monster Hunter Rise on a Steam Deck OLED? How does it run?

Currently playing on. Switch One and the frame rate hurts my pc master race eyes

Lossless Scaling frame gen now working on Steam Deck, in Steam OS....

I've tested it and managed to get it working in a few games. Much as I love messing with stuff like this and admire the creators, It's very rough and needs to improve by a ton and in many ways to make it any way worthwhile. And starting from a baseline of 30fps for frame gen, is never going to be good. Ever.

EDIT- scratch that, just managed to get it working in Yuzu. Zelda TOTK at 30>60fps is not bad at all actually with very little artefacting too. This may be worth keeping an eye on.....

EDIT 2 - Actually scratch that, I don't think it actually is working in Yuzu. Gamescope says it's at 60fps in games and the frametime line has the 'thick' profile, but I'm 99% sure it's still actually at 30fps only. Seems like LS is really buggy and inconsistent at the moment on Deck, and if/when it does work it looks awful.

Just started playing around with chiaki-ng on the Steam Deck and surprised how well it works, fills quite a specific niche of "I don't want to go sit in the living room but still want to play some games I have on the PS5" but integrates nicely into the non-steam games section and in my, admittedly limited, testing, it was lag free and looked pretty good. Suspect it was helped by gig ethernet connected PS5 but the steam deck was still on wifi.

I have GTA V on my EPIC store which I managed to get onto the Steam Deck but for the life of me cannot get further than the rockstar launcher login :(
I had this working via the epic store, i did need proton 9-27-GTA.
I also had to use a script to get it to launch as rockstar launcher would never login.
Was a bit of a pain and rockstar would log me out every now and then so I "found" another copy and its worked perfectly since using that one. Im about 70% through main story now with 0 issues.

Odd how many hoops done of us have to jump through to get it working. I remember only having to force a proton version to play it a year or two ago.

Im not sure why but some people(me included) when the rock star launcher launches it forgets you have the game owned and prompts you to buy it. Without the rockstar launcher it was literally just a a proton version set and off we go,
Milage may vary between epic games version and steam too.

I wasn't using that proton so maybe that's why will reinstall it and give it a go, thanks :)

I was doing it from memory sorry I used GE-Proton9-25-GTA although since then might be ok to use other versions proton is finicky with somethings.

I've just completed Gta V Enhanced on the deck.

You must disable FSR and VSync in the options the first time it runs or it'll crash on launch every time after. I had to edit the settings file to disable these to get it to launch again.

As for Proton versions, anything except the default worked fine (GE, Experimental, Hotfix or Beta).

Ive not seen it mentioned anywhere here so thought Id mention it, there are a few games you can play on linux/steam deck from xbox game pass via battle.net. Im currently playing through THPS3+4 through this method and works great, hope more games hit battle.net.

I've decided to get a second hand Steam deck OLED and have hopefully found one via a wanted thread. I'm initially going to setup emudeck and xbplay to dip my toes into things. I will then start to build out my steam games collection maybe starting with RDR2 as I've never played it, but hear it runs well and looks good. Aside from the items mentioned is there anything else people would recommend as essential things to get setup?

Can't wait!

Welcome to the club.

Almost all games on steam seem to work without any faffing around these days. For the handful that don't, downloading Proton GE from desktop mode has been a bit of a life saver for me. Almost never have an issue with a game if I use GE.
