The Air Rifles & Pistols thread

use the obvious retailer that offers next day delivery of them for less and better warranty.
If you mean Amazon, say Amazon :), and please, a direct link if you can find it. All the dealers I looked at seem to have this model compressor at about the same price.

I checked about 20 online suppliers today and wolfman are the cheapest price for the bare rifle and unlike many, they'll ship straight to a home address and not go via an RFD. Good to know their guns are all HC, thanks for that. It was FFP that I shot last week and I'm happy with that. Realistically, there's not much I need, a Napier pull through kit, a slip and some targets. I've still got some Napier gun oil and some Hoppes No. 9

just started getting back into air rifles/pistols after 30 years since I fired one, mainly as my boy loves shooting and the local auction site had a few come up. Got a Webley and Scott Junior (previously got a Webley and Scott Premier Mk2 for my Dad as he had one when he was young) - this one needs a rebuild as cant push a pellet out, think it needs the seals replacing. Also got a rifle, fires nicely, its a Gamo Delta Fox Whisper .177

I have an - almost - unblemished history when it comes to the rules, and technically, it's a competitor (just not on this item) Amazon £229, Tuxing make them and you basically tick the appropriate box and supply artwork, so you could even swing a batch of OCUK compressors if you fancy it :D The price changes over the course of the month, they raise and drop it every day or two. They are solid bits of kit for the money, it's only as few mins to top up a KT as they're low volume/fill pressure and I used the non LCD/auto shut-off version for the best part of two years before buying a Hills EC3000, they are like running Delta screamer fans as you wiull no doubt remember from back in the day, but having your own air supply removes the major issue with PCP ownership and i'd never go back to just a tank now.

Just to remind you, you can get double points with Wolfman (points do actually get you free stuff) using a code agfs because obviously you have joined airgunforum but haven't found the pinned thread telling you that yet ;) On deliveries, you will need your photo ID present eg driving licence or passport. From new, you will find the barrels need 2-3 pull throughs to get rid of the machining/shipping oil/grease, put a few pellets through after and everything will start to settle down. The cheap Amazon target boxes and re-settable targets are OK, but the ones Wolfman sell are better.

Let us all know how you get on :)

Here’s my latest setup

Do like a Ghost with full Form wooodwork, but for the money you end up too close to an AlphaWolf for me.

Wasn’t a case of money for me. I’m just not fan of the Alpha looks (the buttend) and electronic trigger etc. Apart from that there pretty much the same rifle which isn’t surprising as their owned by the same company.

I’m waiting for the local gun shop to get my Orange laminate HFT 500.

I tried the HW100 it just didn’t feel right for me.

Vector-air.co.uk and if you follow Andy’s Airgun Reviews on YouTube, there is a 20% code off certain products, I know Vector scopes are all included

I used to have a HW97K, HW98, and TX200.

I wasnt too bad with them even at long distance. I tried the Greyhound Gun Club site, Furnace Mill fisheries site, and a local Sunday club at Kinver.

The HW97K had a stage 2 tune at Sandwell Field Sports.

Did it for about 6 months but my circumstances changed so I couldn't go at weekends any more. Did try them in the garden but never felt 100% comfortable shooting it there plus it was only small. They got sold in the end.

Fit is probably the most important factor on most guns that aren’t inherently terrible, you spend a lot trying to make a gun fit you, and if an HW100 doesn’t fit you, then you made absolutely the right choice.

Mixed views on AAR, his wife is a director of VA, I believe he appears on the RFD licence and a daughter has some involvement on paper from memory, his channel is a pure advertising vehicle for it, just as he used to pimp for Drapers till they set-up VA, despite him constantly claiming it’s his ‘friends at Vector Air’ it’s the worst kept secret ever. Also when he reviewed a pistol with obvious crown damage that shot like a dog, he still didn’t comment on it negatively, or suggest it was anything other than brilliant, he’s also seemingly an amazing shot, which some question, and his review guns have been shown to end up back on sale as new on occasion, which is just wrong.

The Vector Optics (no relation to Vector Air) scopes are decent though, I have had most things from the Continental down to the Veyron and genuinely rate them relative to anything else in the market for the same sort of money. You can always buy better, but VO seem to be good at making products that sit at the price point where diminishing returns kick in significantly.

I’m fortunate in that I have an extremely long garden with no neighbours, I could shoot 50 yards if I wanted too but I’m comfortable for now at 25 meters

I’m in the process of setting up my own range for seated rifle practice, my intention is to split my time between serious target shooting then some fun plinking.

As the HFT 500 is both pcp and single shot, I’m considering a second hand rifle with a magazine, a pistol or a springer to end the session. Finding good used isn’t easy, everything used seems to be holding their prices

I tend to buy used a few times a year, the thing I have learnt - the hard way - is that regret is both a cruel and expensive mistress to keep. I have ‘a few’ guns, some as a direct result of making compromises about buying them initially. I never regret paying the going rate for the right gun, but I absolutely regret not buying certain guns for the sake of what is, with hindsight, a trivial sum of money. I begrudged buying a single shot Leshiy for £950, then ended up paying more for a used one mere months later.

Everyone should own a springer, it reminds you that hold, breathing control, and trigger discipline are important, sadly all things that can often slip with PCP use.

Android like may explain his incredible accuracy, even in wind, without much testing/set-up out of the box, it’s uncanny.
The handful of reviews I saw, he banged on about the item, never even demonstrated it.

Ear Defender preferably in ear, any recommendations.

My local club does live fire and air rifles one night a week and ear defenders are mandatory, I find over the ear ones off putting when you’re lining your shot up
