*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I've picked the unfortunately named Groom bridge 34. It's near that place (27 jumps). Though I guess I need to find somewhere that the Sirius Corp resides at, so maybe this was pointless lol.
Side note, I wish I could wear my headphones with the VR headset, I miss the sound when I use it. I can get my Bluetooth noise cancelling ones over but it's not very comfortable wearing two things.
that was where the reverb G2 really stood out. not only was it a high resolution headset it also had industry leading (for vr) built in headphones matched only by the valve index

my quest pro is a superior pcvr headset in most ways but the sound is not even close

I don't like earbuds or I'd just do that. Having speakers on in addition to the headset is an ok compromise but an additional issue is that if I wanted to use voice attack (I rarely bother), my mic is on my headset so I'd have to just have it in proximity and talk louder lol.
Not using VR ATM as I'm having to look too much stuff up so would get annoying trying to read through pass through or lifting the visor.

depending on your headset (and I must admit I have not done this myself) you can pin a 2D screen inside your headset so it's just like another display in your ship so that you can read web pages or watch YouTube guides etc as you play

Sounds cool but far too much effort for me lol.

Got to friendly with Sirius Corp and made about 1.7m on my new character.
Still using Eagle with no modules added lol

I just noticed a new CG along side the hauling one. worth getting a kill logged to it as it will come with at least 1 weapon , 2 if the goal is met.

top 75% should not be too hard either for another weapon still but worst case scenario it's 1 novel weapon

I purchased an Adder just because it was cheap and had a bit more cargo hold as I seem to mainly be doing courier stuff ATM.
Added a couple of modules so I think I have 12 slots now and double the jump range of the eagle As I upgraded the fsd.

Not really wanting to invest too heavily in stuff right now as I don't know where I'll be moving about to and I don't want to have components all over the place as it triggers me lol.

don't forget you can transfer equipment as well as ships at any starports with a shipyard.

if you want a best bang for your buck ship consider the cobra mk V. it's a little more expensive however that ship will likely be one you will want to keep in your hangar for ever.

1 run in the current trade CG in your adder will pay for it I expect

Oh I didn't realise I could xfer equipment too, I knew you could summon ships!

I only got an Adder because the station I'm based at only sells eight ships and that was one of them lol. I know how to find where ships are using Inara, but I wasn't intending to buy one so soon. It's just I got annoyed with the short jump range and thought may as well open up the smaller courier missions too. They seemed to need 2-8 cargo space or hundreds.

I may have bought a Cobra V on my last save before I deleted it because I felt dirty having made money with that pre-built Mandalay.

Adder is a decent all rounder at the beginning, but yeah the cobra is the next step up from that in terms of "can do most things" ships. After that, there are a lot of different paths you can take. If jump range is your thing, the DBX is a great ship for long range travel.

Yeah I'm literally just grinding this faction to open up that area because I was advised to do earlier. Once I've done that, I can start actually playing the game how I intend to not that I know how that is lol.
Only got 1.8m atm and not making much as I'm prioritising rep over credits, that's ok though, last I want is to rush and make it feel like a job.

Yes, that's a mistake in my opinion, they often offer unique modules unavailable by other means and are definitely a good way of making credits. My only advice concerning them is to avoid being in open and use either private group or solo mode when in community goal systems unless you want to run the gauntlet of player gankers.

Well I had a brief look but I can currently only move 12 cargo at a time and the system is probably really far away, so I just saw it as a distraction with little gain, but bear in mind I don't have enough knowledge to really make those decisions beyond how far away something is.

I thought the transport one just rewarded credits anyway.

Contributing a single unit of either titanium, aluminium, steel or CMM composite will net you 10x it's normal price along with putting you into the top 100% of contributors which currently has a 125 million credit reward, it will also reward you with a class 5 and class 6 pre engineered cargo rack with extra capacity (there is no other way in game to obtain the modules as of today, speculation is that we will be allowed to engineer our own soon but nothing has been confirmed) and a decal. It is absolutely worth the time to do.
