Fuji X Series

I keep looking at these even tho ive got an A7C2 and a couple of decent lenses. I think it may be mild gas but im not a massive fan of the post processing needed with the Sony.

Bloomberg reported yesterday:

Fujifilm Holdings Corp. raised US prices for the majority of its digital cameras and lenses on Friday, in some cases by hundreds of dollars, as President Donald Trump’s tariffs continue to reverberate across the consumer tech industry.

Many of the company’s camera bodies, which are popular with creators and professionals on account of their film simulations and unique color rendering, are now $200 more expensive than they were on Thursday evening. For instance, Fujifilm’s premier consumer camera, the X-T5, sold for $1,699 earlier this week but now costs $1,899, a 12% bump.

Now I feel like my X-E5 on order is a bargain at the obscene price of £1500 or whatever it is :D
I for one can't wait to see the flood of US designed and produced digital cameras, to compete with the best of the Japanese brands, that these tariffs will undoubtedly stimulate.

I have an X-E4 and since the X-E5 was announced I've been considering it. The price makes it harder, particularly with the still a bit small EVF...for now I've changed up my film simulation recipes and it feels like a whole new camera!

Also wondered would 40MP make the files annoyingly large. You can reduce the size of course but I'd probably never do that for wanting to crop.

I never got the larger file size argument. IRO the 26mp and 40mp sensors, the RAW files have gone from ~29mb to ~40mb and JPG size differences are negligible.
Personally I haven’t found that increase in any way onerous.
Just wait until you have to deal with 200-300mb GFX 100s files! ;)

Hi folks, wonder if I could get some advice…

I’ve never had a proper camera and I’m looking for a nice compact option to take on an upcoming trip.

I’m a complete beginner to it all but I’ve stumbled upon the XM-5 which seems to tick a lot of boxes. It’s in budget and I love the idea of the film simulation, as I’m unlikely to spend time editing the photos at this point in time.

Is this a smart choice or would anyone have any other suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

In terms of Fuji I would recommend you take a look at the X-T30 ii. I’m not saying you should get that over the X-M5 but check it out before you make a decision.
It’s more feature rich and has most of the same internals. It’s also around the same price or in fact significantly lower if you pick up a used one, there’s loads on the market.

Hey guys, I've just upgraded to a MacBook Pro before my X-E5 arrives and it's insane. Was hoping someone might know the answer to this. On iPad I was using Lightroom but I want to move back to Lightroom Classic moving forward on the Mac. Is there an easy way, once you're done editing, to migrate photos with all the edits etc. from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom? The one thing I do like about the cloud based Lightroom is how well it backs everything up. Cheers.

I don’t believe so, or at least I haven’t found it yet. I did similar research when I returned to Lightroom after a few years away.
My current solution is to just upload and update my ‘Edits’ folder. This is where I store all my final exported JPGs. So these I manually import to Lightroom (having edited them in Lightroom Classic) and then upload to cloud.

It may well be all moot in a few months because my stacked license is expiring soon and I’m almost certain I’m going to return to Capture One for my editing and possibly purchase Pixelmator Pro for any “photoshopping” needs.

It blows my mind Adobe don't have a solution or make this easy. Almost as much as it blows my mind how shockingly terrible the iPad Pro Lightroom app was. Who is running the show there no wonder their share price is going down the pan.

Thanks though and I think I'm going to explore Capture One too.

Just had my email from WEX saying my X-E5 kit is in stock and ready for shipping.
I’m a little hesitant because I also have an order in at my local private bricks & mortar store which is where I’d rather get it.
Hoping I’ll get a phone call from them today or tomorrow…

Also back on topic, X-E5s should start shipping tomorrow. Hoping I get an allocation as ordered the day they were announced.

Edit - lol I posted this as you posted the previous message. Sounds like you'll get one regardless.

Got the call from my local store - they’re receiving one unit and it’s all mine :D
Being in NI it will likely be Monday before I get it (possibly Friday but that’s being hopeful).
If I’d taken up my order with WEX it would probably have been Monday before it arrived anyway so no harm done.
I assume you’ll have yours tomorrow so let us know what you think of it!

The X-E5 is awesome but I haven't figured out how to get the retro style in the viewfinder yet. It's all kicked off at work now so will have a proper play with it later. I've never owned the fixed lens version (forgot the name) but I was surprised how big it is, doesn't really feel much smaller than my X-T30 II although obviously it is more portable.

Very have the silver kit as well as the two colour variants on body only in stock.
Might be worth a punt for someone who wants to open a new account and get a tidy discount.
