LG 42-inch OLED

You've done your best mate, I get it now it's cool haha :)

Here's what i mean..ignore the low quality video/colour banding from my phone video, just look at the bright pink logo in the top left... you can see theres a lot of local dimming going on behind the logo - it almost goes black.
I think it's the HDR getting too agressive rather than the tv itself.

Gaming is superb though, I mean like, relly really good as long as tou can maintain a good frame rate

I have two LG OLEDs... I wouldn't hesitate to recomend them, I liked the first one so much I bought a second one for my bedroom!

Ah, thank you so much for taking the time to do that mate!
You may have just swayed me ;)
Nice, well you could always love the two that you've got so much, that you buy me the third ;)

Oh and one other thing, if your pc isn't quite good enough for 4k gaming, you can run more demanding games at 1440 for more frames /higher graphics settings and it doesn't skip a beat.. it's perfect..

I think that's just part of the iPlayer UI styling to be honest. For a start there is no local dimming as such on OLEDs, every pixel generates the light level it needs.

There's a corner fade behind the BBC logo in iPlayer for that initial display.

I've only noticed it on iplayer to be fair

Mines still going strong with wallpaper engine colourful backgrounds and HDR on most of the time, no babysitting, no sign of burn-in yet touch wood lol.

@mattyfez @Noxia I give in, you've both sold me on it. Next year after I get a 9800X3D or 10800X3D, 64GB ram, B850 etc, I'll grab one!
If I even get the slightest hint of burn in, then I'll see you both in court :P:D

It's really not an issue, it's just a case of being aware and not being silly... Leave the TVs cleaning settings to do thier thing.. Set windows to turn off the screen after X inactivity.. Auto hide taskbar (you get used to it quickly it's not a big deal.

So you are manually changing the settings per usage case, but via a profile, versus adjusting X settings slider? Or did I get that wrong?
Regardless, I just want to set it to max everything and enjoy it as that, whatever the usage case.
If I can do that, and not have any burn in for 8-10 years, then that'd be perfect, and I'm all for it. If not, it's no interest to me.
FWIW all that I've ever seen, as people moaning how quickly OLEDS burn in taskbars, wallpapers, icons, HUD's etc, I've seen many videos online with high end models do this, and in a short space of time, certainly not after 5-10 years, as they wouldn't even make a video about it at that point, because the monitor would have outlived it's shelf life and been more than adequate for the time used.
All I'm saying is, at the price that they are, they should be perfect, and I shouldn't have to baby them, nor hide taskbars/backgrounds, or have the monitor run safety measures to protect itself, that's a bit crazy when you think about it, compared to any other screen/monitor.

No, you set it up in profiles once and forget about it.

8-10 years no burn-in, easily, just go for it.

My 42" C2 is coming up 3 years old this November & still running fine, only ever used it as a monitor. One of the best purchases I have made, no burn in or problems at all.

As £600 it wasn't even a difficult decision over an overpriced PC monitor. People were paying double that for piddly 27"

I have just installed the companion app, works fine. Connected TV to wifi network. made a note of the IP address in router. Installed software and put the IP for TV in the relevent box within the software, and rebooted. TV turned off, then turned on again when I restarted.
