What film did you watch last night?

Independence Day 7.5/10

Does it make sense? Not really. Is it full of plot holes? Sure. Is it incredibly nauseously American? In places. But it's still one of my favourite summer blockbusters. Now I've never watched the sequel, I know it doesn't get good reviews, think it's worth watching?

Well - its basically the first film remade but worse in every way - so no.

I would say the 2nd film is the template for all awful films made since its release and a prime example of why modern Hollywood is just so terrible, I don't think its has one single redeeming feature and I like the first film, its still one of the best feel good popcorn film, the 2nd is just terrible.

Superman 3/10

absolute rubbish, marvel/cartoon style trash.
I'm sure the dog only exists for merchandise reasons.

No idea who this film was made for, probably some AI formula

It was made for comic book and Superman fans. That's why it is fun and lighthearted and colourful. It's a comicbook superhero movie, it's meant to be cartoon like. Plus the 90s cartoon series and the Fleisher cartoons wee part of the influence and inspiration.

Krypto has existed in the comics since the 1950s. Not there just for merch reasons.

Superman 4/10

Really wanted to like it but couldn't convince myself. A lot didn't sit well with me. I got half way through and was wishing the film to the end. Last time that happened was when I watched Dude, Where's My Car?

JoJo Rabbit - Most excellent! Controversial in places, black humour, made me feel something in all the right places - 8/10 Highly recommended!

Amazing movie - that one scene though

I watched it in a reasonably busy cinema when it came out. That scene broke a few people - instant switch from laughing to gasps of disbelief and some sobbing.

Thunderball (1965)

Making my way through the Bond series from the start and this forth installment was decent for its time. I still think Goldfinger is my favourite Sean Connery Bond film, but that's probably because I've seen it more than the others. In fact I think this is the first time I've watched Thunderball from start to finish.

6/10

Have you watched it and are you sure? be interested to see your opinion if you haven't seen it yet.

@arknor on your review I doubt anyone is giving this movie more than a 6/10 without lying to themself
I have seen it multiple times. I really enjoyed it. If I remember I rated it 7.5/10 after my first viewing. I'd probably say it and 8/10 now after further views.

A Fistful of Dynamite. Not the best spaghetti western, but not the worst. James Coburn and Rod Steiger went pretty well together.

New superman, dunno why I tried to watch it given my strong distaste for anything comic book or suphero related. Lasted about 40 mins before turning off. Absolute dross. 4/10 and that’s me being generous

New mission Impossible, storyline was laughable nonsense like the previous one but the sunken submarine scene was well done. 6/10 if only for the submarine scene, without it I give it a 5.

@steve5424 watched it multiple times and you can';t even finish it once, how disrespectful :D

Honestly thought it was worse than shazam!, and that wasn't a film trying to take it self seriously, I hope.
, superman 2025 maybe the worst superhero film ever

Yes the new one. Why is that hard to believe? I really enjoyed it, was a lot of fun and most live the Reeve films in terms of how it made me feel.

It was those films that got me hooked on Superman as my favourite superhero and got me in to comics when I was a little older.

While I did enjoy MoS and the other DCEU films it was the least Superman of them all in terms of traditional character portrayal. I do own them all on physical media and rewatch from time to time, even having them on 3D Blu Ray.

I also have the S shield tattooed on my wrist.

I saw the new Supermam film at the cinema because the wife wanted to see it… me, I’ve had superhero films up to here, but the things we do for love.

I thought it was pretty bang average. It’s not bad, as such, it’s just so much blah. It’s not doing anything remotely interesting. There’s nothing new there that we haven’t seen a zillion times before, and nothing that’s done particularly differently or better to make it interesting. They’ve obviously got James Gunn in to try to bring some of the GotG magic to DC to try once again to desperately jumpstart some kind of DCEU… yawn. The techy guy played by Big Love from House was the most interesting character and I can’t even remember his name.

It passed the time, but it’s really nothing special.

Nobody 2.

Hmm. I absolutely loved the 1st one. The build up to & then with that in context ..... that fight scene. I'd actually say is the best individual fight scene I've watched.
I thought the trailer for the 2nd was great.
On watching, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it & I guess, it was impossible to hit the originality, that made the 1st so good.
It does as good as it could I think, but ultimately is forgetable, unlike Nobody 1.
I didn't really like the character development of his wife.
7 / 10... or maybe a 6.5.
