Games you're playing, and games...

How does Uncharted 2 hold up against Uncharted 4?

I'm hoping to have the time (some day...) to replay the remastered trilogy (if that's what they called it), though I loved 4 so much that I'm not sure how I'll get on with the earlier games now

2-3 are still quality games though graphically not up there with 4. I enjoy them all tbh

Good to know. With 4 being having such open levels, I was worried the earlier games would feel tight and constrained. I take it that the first one is showing it's age a bit more?
Yes, it feels quite dated now plus the shooting gameplay is a bit dull. Uncharted 2 onward is a much better experience overall.

As above. The first is a bit creaky. It’s not that long though so I can put up with it because I like to play through the whole story. 2-3 hold up really well. Lost Legacy is easily overlooked as well. I think as a standalone game it’s one of the best of them. Sharp dialogue and story with 2 great characters. Location is amazing as well and parts of it are open like 4.

Had a real love hate relationship with FF7 Rebirth when I did my original playthrough. I gave up on every piece of side content after chapter 4 and ploughed through the story. Thought I was done then ended up going back to do some side stuff and 70 hours later I'm still going :o. 'Just' the brutal and legendary challenges to go, and a quick run through hard mode.

I played Lost Legacy, loved it as well - agreed that the location was stunning and the big open main area worked really well. I wouldn't mind seeing a new Uncharted game continue with those characters, though I can understand that the marketing may be harder!

Gone back to Destiny 2 and playing through the expansions I’ve missed. Kind of forgot how great it is. I’ve done Beyond Light (Variks) before but I’m starting with that then I’ll do the others in order.

Haha... yeah. That stuff is brutal to the point of being sadistic. Hard on Rebirth makes hard on remake look like a walk in the park. It's a joke how difficult it can be. And those legendary VR battles are stupid, just stupid. I got stuck in a doom loop of making the same mistake over and over. It took me 250 hours in the end to get them done haha.

Mafia Old Country credits just rolling, enjoyed my time with it very linear, on rails type of game, if you want to call it a game, very much more an interactive movie, game play is just stealth missions that end in gun fights :p

The beauty is the story though which is what Mafia games are all about, was abit confused about the collectibles as every time I went off to get them during the game , there was a 'return to character in 10..' message so wondered when the game was going to open up, found at the end of the game explore is available! - Never really found the need to buy anything :/

I've had Dead to Rights Retribution for PS3 sitting on my shelf for years and finally got round to it this afternoon.

Holy...moly... I'm sure it drops down to single digit FPS for at least 50% of the time you're playing lol. Horrendous!!

The game is actually ok though when it's running smoothly. It's nothing special but it's a serviceable 3rd person action game.

Been playing the campaign in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022), its ok and looks great but too many sections where its impossible to progress without dying first to work out where enemies are etc.

Finally got on to playing Little Nightmares 2… like the first an utterly fantastic game. It’s stressful, tough in places, looks amazing and is absolutely horrific throughout. For a tenner or so it was definitely worth it.

Not seen it mentioned on here but Gears of War reloaded is on Gamepass. Played my way through the first couple of chapters at the weekend. Looks great, cover movement and sprinting is still as awkward as ever but hitting them perfect reloads still feels awesome and I still parrot everything Marcus says during battle. NICE! I feel the sound of the gunfire lets it down a bit, all the other sounds boom but the Lancer sounds weak in comparison. Still a classic though and enjoying being back into it.

I assume then that Reloaded is identical from a gameplay perspective - just a fresh coat of paint on top?

I keep wanting to play the Gears games, but I don't seem to gel with it for some reason. I'd play some of Gears 5 (I think I got most of the way through Act 2) but it felt like a slog and I stopped. I recently went back to Ultimate edition (which I had bounced off a long time ago) and it felt very clunky compared to 5. If Reloaded is going to feel the same, then not much sense in trying it out. Shame, on paper I should love these games, not sure why it doesn't work for me.

Yeah, just a lick of paint I assume, I can't quite remember the story as it was probably close to 20 years ago I played it last. Cover mechanics in games have improved since this, its still a bit clunky and a bit hit and miss. The A button will put you in cover if you are close enough, if you aren't close then you'll do a combat roll usually into incoming fire which is annoying. Looks great though. I loved the first one and enjoying this. May as well give it a go on gamepass.
