Wouldn't a touch up spray be better ?
No such thing as a touch up spray. You can get colour matched spray cans however you will not get a finish you will be happy with on your car. (I used one on my old £2000 Fiesta before we got rid of it, with plenty of prep I managed a reasonable finish that you probably wouldn't notice from a distance, however despite being a brilliant colour match, up close you could see where it had been done, as the paint had a very slight texture to it)

Either diy with touch up pens e.g. the Halfords style 3 step (1 base, 2 paint, 3 lacquer) or an all in one "nail varnish" style paint from eBay.

Or
Get it smart repaired (which a decent repairer will make it 99.5% invisible)

Or
Get a proper respray at a bodyshop

So I found out today that when it will come to changing tyres due to Xdrive I will need star rated tyres to keep within warranty (another thing not mentioned on sale) people are saying Michelin ps4s are the way to go but what are the ones that are actually star rated is it the self seal version?

What are my other choices ones ive seen are P-Zero PZ4 which I have on from the dealer and Continental Sports Contact 6 apart from this there seems a distinct lack of choice?

I don’t remember that being a point in the warranty T&Cs. Porsches don’t need them to keep the warranty valid but they need them to put the warranty on in the first place.

Can’t imagine BMW requiring them as they’re not usually that strict. Have you confirmed that with the warranty team?

I would stick to the star rated tyres if you have warranty, they are a different compound iirc on the Xdrive system. BMW will tell you to get the vaseline out if you dare put non-rated ones on the car.... :D

Bye bye 440i GC :( Chopping it in tomorrow for a Tesla...
£23k bought in Jan 2021 and bought the MPPSK for it for £1.5k
Selling it on for £20k

So, £4.5k for 4.75 years = £80/month depreciation...what a deal lol

I will have to confirm but looking around especially on the Baby Bmw forum there are some that could invalidate a drivetrain claim.

Thats what I worry about not a cheap fix!

So... I had an interesting call from Sytner; which then led to me searching the market a bit. I can sell my F90 M5 (CarWow etc) which I've owned for 16 months and put 10,000 miles on for only about £4,000 less than I paid for it.

When I bought the car, I didn't project depreciation as ultimately I wasn't even sure how long I was going to keep it [depending on whether I gelled with it, if I wanted to try something else etc] but this is far better than I expected.

Now the proposition to sell and try something else is quite tempting - primarily because I don't need a car as big as an M5 and I may as well try a few other cars before we're inevitably taxed into going Electric.

Possibly one of these: https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/202508115329429?quoteref=95d95b18-5222-4681-9a68-802b3dd73bab

I know it's pretty niche but anyone gone from an M5 to an M4 or just have experience of an M4 overall.

Also - all thoughts and opinions welcome.

Try a company called motormoolah. They're who I sold my 440i to. They offered the best price and also no haggling as long as the condition roughly matched the pics you send them. I got exactly what they offered over the phone within 30mins.

Motormoolah = Hilton garage based in Derby, so it shouldn't be too far away from you.

Speaking of selling cars, I’ve no idea what to put mine up for.

As a recap:

F30 340i manual, 23k miles, FBMWSH, full paint correction with crystal serum ultra and exo v5, heated seats, reverse camera, electric memory seats, MPPSK, Harman Kardon, heated steering wheel, high beam assist and still under warranty.

Looking at ads, I don’t think >20k is unobtainable for the right buyer as it’s the only manual I know of for sale, but thoughts from anyone else?

Unless you get lucky with the correct buyer this is a sunk cost and irrelevant

reverse camera, electric memory seats, MPPSK, Harman Kardon, heated steering wheel, high beam assist
All very standard (sans the mppsk, but this does not add to the resale value unless to the correct buyer). If you sell to the trade they won't take into account the mppsk.

This would be a beige flag. Probably narrows your pool of potential buyers. But the correct buyer would probably pay the extra for all the stuff you'd done to your ride

Probably more than that I would've thought? Esp if you're selling privately.
My 2018 F36 440i wasn't as well maintained as yours and had 47k miles on the clock and went into the trade for £20k.

Yeah I don't think it's a value add per se, but it's immediately obvious in the flesh how flawless the paint is - it looks the same on camera as it does in person which is rare.

Yeah they don't seem to care for it, but it has been a great purchase IMO.

It will certainly put off the pops and bangs crew who want quick gear changes yo for their traffic light F1 starts :P

It's strange, WBAC I think offered me 13k last time I checked. Carwow was 16k.

But I got silly offers on my Boxster, around mid to low 20s, when I ultimately sold it for 34k privately.

The M4 is epic, LCI even more so. Never driven an M5, but I can imagine that the M4 is a more "sporty" and agile car, even though it's still a porky bugger.
My only reservation with the M4 is that it doesn't get a "widebody" like the M3; it has the same hips as a 420d.

IMO Toronto Red is nasty IRL, and I'd look for extended leather and adaptive cruise, but I don't know what the UK market is like. Also the carbon buckets look awesome and are surprisingly comfortable.

Totally agree! I had the mppsk for nearly the whole ownership time on my 440i, it's only been a couple of days but already missing the sound lol.

As my above post, try motormoolah if you want a semi-decent quote. I used them. Can recommend.
