Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

There was an NUFC "fanalyst" on SSN earlier saying he and others thought that Isak deliberately played badly for the last 3 months of the season in order that NUFC didn't qualify for the CL and that would make his exit easier.

I don't think that's true, but if people think that then why do they want to keep him?
Fanalyst just sounds like it’s some influence.

I don’t ever buy into players supposedly playing badly on purpose myself. It doesn’t benefit them in anyway.

Its just copium to lessen the emotional impact that one of their star players doesnt want to play for them any more. Some of our fans displayed the same copium with all the Trent has been learning Spanish for years to prepare for joining Real talk.

Personally, I’d not say Isak is worth that only because he is injury prone. He is class and has done wonders for us but we haven’t had a full season where he has been above and beyond everyone else.
he only manages about 60mins, can look useless for whole games, gets niggles easily and needs a lot of rotation.

of course hes not a 150m player, probably more like 100 in reality, I'm sure convinced he's as good as people think.

his flashy ball moments are few and far between
hes not going to play for you again, his value will just continue to drop. the whole 2 striker thing would have made sense if he started week in week out. As it stands you have no money, an no striker..
so he's supposed t o just get his tantrum to succeed because theres no other strikers anyway?
I agree with this...Newcastle are only damaging themselves at this point. Everything thats happening, even more so if we're talking rolling weekly fines on top, well...its hardly going to make Newcastle seem like the place to join if you're another player.
just won't get another player like Isak, and it stops anyone else thinking the same thing.

Give isak liverpool, when next window, tonali and bruno, livramento, botman etc go... nufc would never make a step forward and become Bournemouth
Shirley if you let him rot in the reserves, that's the same as selling him? as in he's not playing for you, so why does getting replacements in matter?
do you have kids? do you appease every temper tantrum?

Yes and No. Although unsure what that has to do with my comment??

I was specifically asking if newcastle supporters are happy for him to rot without getting in replacements, then why are they not happy with him being sold without getting replacements? in both situations he doesn't play in the first team, so I don't really understand the difference..

I personally think it's disgusting behavior from any player, but given players behave more and more like spoilt children every year, and clubs still buy them as they are "good" players, then the behaviour is never going to change..

It's the sign of the times unfortunately.. and very much society in general, but that's another discussion altogether..

That would be a massive breach of contract and allow us to sue and withhold his registration
Duties and Obligations of the Player
3.1.2
to play to the best of his skill and ability at all times;

Half of the United squad last season would be in breach of 3.1.2, particularly Rashford, Garnacho and Onana.

Of course they don't. Plenty of players don't put in anything close to 100% though and when you don't give something approaching that, you have to be absolutely world class not to be a weak link in any half decent team. Thats why teams get new manager bounces. They aren't magically put into a different formation and suddenly they a transformed. They just suddenly have something to play for and put in more effort in most cases.

Its an utterly stupid clause as you wouldn't be able to prove in court that a player wasn't giving their all. Even if you had all sorts of stats to "prove" it, you wouldn't get anywhere.

Hmm, I think it's in there just to stop the ridiculous from happening i.e. just jogging around the pitch and not trying to hide that you're not trying. Like the football version of those South East Asia countries that were trying to lose those badminton games at the Olympics a few years ago.

cant be letting a player 'rot in the reserves' an then bleating on about how unfair psr is

It's the sort of thing you insert into contracts all the time, but which anyone sensible will only use in really egregious occasions. Obviously that'll never be enforced where a player is only at 90% of his best, but if a player basically fully gives up it gives the club options as a last resort.

Havertz crocked already, could be an ACL given there’s talk of a last minute trolley dash to the market again before the window closes although they just gave Trossard a new contract/higher wages (but no extension)…

What ever the outcome for Isak the atmosphere at St James on Monday is going to be brutal let alone the game itself.
It will be interesting to see if the Newcastle fans sing Pro Isak songs or Anti Isak songs, might indicate what hope there is of him being welcomed back into the fold

Having said that, fans are a fickle bunch prone to changing their attitudes toward a player as often as they change their socks, so might equally indicate nothing at all :)
