Most people don't spend thousands on ships they can't use in the SQ42 game. Especially the industrial ships.

You are crazy to think most people who have given cig almost a billion do it for Sq42

you are talking about whales who pay a lot individually. if you are talking numbers of players surely the majority are those who spend under £50 (certainly under £100)

I know SC has more whales than most but (usually) a game lives or dies based on the number of people who just play the price of entry to the game. IF SC NEEDS players to buy an Idris then the game is in trouble.

I backed primarily for S42 BUT I still upped my pledge slightly to get a shinier starter ship for the PU (because I want both games)

PS (mostly joking) last I looked you couldn't use a lot of those ships people pledged for in the PU either... they are pretty jpegs tho I will give you that ;)

So... right now, over the last week the game seems to be working well. i've completed Hurston and ARcCorp, no major problems and a mate of mine has the Hull-C docking and cargo working consistently.

Will have to try and make time this weekend to get on!!!

Not looking forward to starting comp up, not been on in something like 3 months or so :cry:

Basic gameplay working (for this patch)

Good start, 10 years late. Let's hope they can't completely mess it up with the next patch then...
 
Actually pretty good....

No more concept ships, they are done with selling concept ships, from now on they will only sell new ships that are flight ready or about to be, no longer are they selling ships that have only been concepted.

To be fair that has been true for 2025, all of the new ships sold this year have all been sold as flight ready, we didn't even know they existed until they went on sale ready to fly.

Edit: Starter ships like the Aurora are getting a complete overhaul. From what i can ascertain, they didn't say this specifically but its easy to realise what they were talking about, the Aurora will have its bed removed in favour of a larger more usable interior, Bed logging will also not be nessesary in the future, the intention is you can log out and in anywhere, they are looking at ways that using the bed to log out in, if you have one benefits in some way, they don't yet know how.

In other news they have now moved the primary development branch to the Vulkan build, what that means is all future main branch releases will have the full Vulkan API.

Evocati testing for this build branch is starting soon, with in days.

This is a huge step forward as the engine not being on its proper API is holding important development back, not just Graphics improvements, Ray Tracing and performance optimisation but also things like Dynamic Server Meshing depend on it.

Are many running on Vulkan?

I tried switching, and I get higher averages but get some serious tanking of FPS seemingly at random....so will probably switch back to DirectX for now (5700X3D, 32GB, 3080 for reference)

Same so no.... the Vulkan thats in game now is not proper, proper is what Evocati are going to be testing a 5 PM.

I played the game yonks ago when AMD were giving it away with GPUs but I've lost access to that account somehow.
It must be in a somewhat better state by now?

That's weird. Anyone would think he'd nicked your wallet or something.
Then again, you're not exactly the first to act personally aggrieved over a game you've not spent a penny on or even played, yet feel qualified to tell everyone what's what.
