******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I don't know, but I do know it's a fact about Chris Roberts spending habits and all the shenanigans that have gone on with employing his wife and stuff, and clearly he(Kelt) does too.
So at least one of those things is quantifiable, but this is hardly new ground.
Don't get me wrong, I don't really care either way. If nothing else it's amusing to watch from the sidelines.

Let's be clear, I'm not defending that. It's no secret that CIG mis-management is a ****show.
It's a played out argument that has nothing to do with the posts he was replying to.

Reading certain SC threads on reddit doesn't make one an authority on the subject.

This is great and all but I only want to know if its in a playable state yet :D
My point exactly. He chose to ignore your questions because he has no idea for obvious reasons, and thinks he's clever and original.

To answer your question, yes. But expect bugs and Jank. It's SC, it's just the way.

Yes but you can waste hours trying to do simple things only to randomly fall through a floor and have to start again. It can be bearable a few times but eventually you'll realise it's a waste of time.

That said, there can be fun to be had and it is cool seeing some of the locations and stuff, if that's worth the cost though is another matter. You'll also find that the praise of this game is directly proportional to how much money and time people have spent on it..

Honestly I find it quite conflicting. My advice is always wait for a free fly event. I have a pretty beefy PC and performance is terrible at times.

First time in 3 months in SC, @humbug is flying connie. Guess what?
He then proceeds an crashes into a station:eek:

Wouldn't mind if it was a place he'd never been....

I'm sure the sunk cost fallacy applies to a fair few, but I think that's an unfair generalisation to make.

In my case, I haven't spent much, but I have had a fair amount of time in there (though not much this year).
My personal praise of the game comes from the great times and adventures I've had and the good friends I've made.

Maybe but unfortunately there is some strong confirmation bias that supports this across multiple channels. I think the most mental thing I heard is people sending the developers pizzas.. like I don't get it.

Also, if anyone wants to see some extremes on both ends, I always say go to Reddit,.look at Star citizen and look at Star citizen refunds and look who's talking the most sense

There are opinions to support whatever bias you choose to go with, and cherry picking weirdo outliers to support a given viewpoint is poor form.

Personally, I like to form my own opinions based on my own experience, rather than parrot whatever seems popular or makes me feel clever for repeating as if they're my own thoughts.

Have you played Star citizen recently?

If so, how did you get on with it? Did you enjoy it?

In the last month or so yes, I started on..... the one in the sky, Orison? Usually Microtech as I like snow environments
FPS was sub 50 and felt awful, I even dropped from 4k but apparently I need a better PC or something, still it looks nice, big fan of the glowy tree things. Eventually made it to my hangar (nearly died of shock that the lift worked on that occasion) as I'm not familiar with that place, got in ship ok, forgot I had to equip stuff so went back to a terminal.
Loaded inventory, well, I say loaded, it brought up the interface but the icons weren't loading properly and it wasn't equipping stuff when I dragged them over so gave up and decided to test out joystick controls on ship.

FPS improved once in ship away from hub. Lots of people begging for credits in chat and arguing about Trump and saying how awful CIG are for the poor event (was during that shipping one). Got controls okish but remembered it was pointless spending too much time as I dont play a lot so won't remember them next time anyway.
Flew back to hangar, managed to get back in without issue.

Played it for a week a while back now, was buggy as hell lol dont understand how people can justify this game, if it was any other game it would be condemned to hell.

Falling through the elevators to your death, ships disappearing so you fly right into them, cant finish bunker missions because they are bugged to hell etc etc, these were just a few of the problems when i played.

This game will NEVER be in a finished state i dont think, performance was also terrible! its a shame as there would be a good game under it all somewhere, its just going to stay alpha for ever until it ceases to exist.

God knows how people can spend real money on this, some people literally 1000s as well! Chris Roberts is laughing, rolling in everyones cash lol

The last patch, the freight elevators were completely messed up. Its mostly fixed now on the latest 4.3 patch.

50fps is actually good in Orison. CIG are beginning to add true Vulkan support that will render everything from there and provide performance benefits.

The game graphically and performance wise is not optimised at all.

On a seperate note you should check out my posts earlier this year were i stated that CIG should not be optimising and fixing bugs but instead, continue to work on and add features that are missing and needed for 1.0

But we all know why they said that. they said that because most of the devs are working on sq42.

Who cares what others enjoy or dont enjoy? The main point is you tried it and you did not enjoy it, So you can put the game down and leave it and not follow the game?
