Metal gear solid 'Lambda'

We all have our own thoughts on Mack so let's not get into that. But I can't see myself playing this until it hits the bargain bins. I can honestly see how when it came out originally it was viewed as being ground breaking but......... My sole introduction into the franchise was MGSV Phantom Pain and I have 226 hours logged with the game, so I was interested in this remake. But without any rose tinted nostalgia goggles to view it from this doesn't seem to be my cup of FPS tea, unlike 5.

He is right about the game being hilarious, it's like all the characters have brain damage or got sprinkled with some fairy dust

The general trick with Mack is to ignore everything that is being said and just use him as a drinking game and down a shot each time he says the word "guys" :D

Phantom pain was a tragedy being unfinished. It was pretty good, snake, but it lacked the tightly designed sections of the previous games that bring out some of the best and tense gameplay.
I was very excited after playing ground zeroes for close to 40 hours. There was only one mission in phantom pain I recall, but can't name, which has the same feeling.
I also remember being disappointed with it feeling like a step back in the way you could interact with enemies, but that was also the case in ground zeroes.
I'd have been much happier with it if it wasn't incomplete. I did still sink 140 hours into it...

I thought the original MGS was brilliant and so far ahead of it's time. I then bought a PS2 to play number 2. It was good but not as good. When number 3 finally came out, I pre-ordered it and bought a PS3 for it. They totally changed the game, so I played it for all of 2 minutes, sold the lot and went straight back to PC gaming. Good times :D

Exactly my thoughts. That first game was amazing, needing to look on the back of the case to get Meryls code, and needing to put the controller in port 2 so Mantis couldn't read your mind.

If adding in hardware ray tracing and frame gen is literally as simple as adding a few lines in an ini config file, what possible reason do these 'devs' have for not implementing it?

I genuinely think they are taking the **** out of customers at this point. There's no other logical explanation.

So has anyone bought this other than me?
I took a gamble for £45.99, the original being a favourite of mine.

I've had no stutters (yet)? - Genuinely surprised - I am on the latest versions 1.1.2; whether this has fixed any issues in the pre-order version footage we saw stuttering on Youtube?

All I've done is add the following to:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\MGSDelta\Saved\Config\Windows\engine.ini

[SystemSettings]
r.Lumen.HardwareRayTracing=0
r.Lumen.Reflections.HardwareRayTracing=0
r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.HardwareRayTracing=0
r.LumenScene.DirectLighting.HardwareRayTracing=0
r.NGX.DLSS.denoisermode=0
r.Streamline.DLSSG.Enable=1
t.Streamline.Reflex.Enable=1
t.Streamline.Reflex.Mode=1

This enables frame generation and Reflex for 4XXX/5XXX series cards. Thanks to Reflex, I haven't noticed any extra input lag when playing with it on or off, using a PS5 controller.

I'm getting a locked 60FPS and using under 8GB VRAM at 4K DLSS Balanced with a 4070, using the following custom settings:

settings2.png

Other than a couple of slight lighting flickers, and 1 random bit of slowdown in the middle of the Ocelot encounter cutscene, it's played flawless, no crashes, and no stutters - I made sure to waste about an hour going back and forth to the areas I saw stutters in the pre-order footage, and nothing?
Do we think the reviewers/Youtubers had an earlier version, sent a bit ahead of time with an NDA, and had to wait till just before release?

All I know is, I'm on the latest version 1.1.2, and haven't played the vanilla version, nor 1.1.0, 1.1.1, and it just seems to work after the above added entries into the engine.ini file and tweaking the graphics to lock in 60FPS at 4K balanced.

I know, I'm using frame generation, and it shouldn't need it *insert moaning about games not being optimized etc* but, if I'm not experiencing anything that takes me away from the gameplay or immersion, whilst maintaining the graphic fidelity and 60FPS that I want, then do I really care? Nope!
I could remove the frame cap and apply the quickfix for that too, but I've no desire, it's a single player game, I'll take 60FPS at 4K DLSS Balanced, with the quality I've achieved, over a lower res and higher FPS, but each to their own.

Here's some random screenshots in cutscenes, and in game - looks good enough for me. SORRY for the file size/resolution, but I figured you'd all want to see uncompressed screenshots taken directly without and resizing ;)

I will update this thread if I experience any issues - this was one of my favourite games, so if they ruin the remake, I will be the first to moan about it!

I appreciate that trolls online can easily put the fear into people paying full price or put them off altogether buying a game, but for less than a PS3/4 game was in the shops, I was whiling to take the risk, and so far I'm very happy with it.
If you're a MGS fan, I'd say take the risk, I cant see this suddenly deciding to run poorly after running flawlessly for 3 hours straight, as I say, if it does, I'll try and capture it and post it on here.

Hope this helps someone :)

Another on my play list games that I will wait 6-12 months before picking up. This one looks like it needs some time for them to sort out. Plus price is a bit silly.

Makes me laugh the pricing these days. For a physical version ok i can sell it and most my money back. But for digital? Come on...

Sorry dude, but this is one of those cases where you need to actually try it for yourself versus believing questionable troll reviews Steam/Reddit/Youtube!

It doesn't need anything, I ended up completing it in 2 hits yesterday :) my 2nd session was 10 hours straight, with zero crashes!

I only experienced 4 bugs:
1) With subtitles enabled in cutscenes, I got some transparency halo artifacts around the words (I disabled them anyway for a more cinematic experience, as I prefer to not know what words are coming in a sentence) This appears to be a frame generation bug, as it didn't happen before I enabled it.
2) At the beginning of the game and towards the end, 2 cutscenes had a random slowdown as they were playing then a few seconds later caught up.
3) A few lighting flickers on textures during cutscenes, but nothing like STALKER 2 still does to this day :cry:

During the course of a total of around 15-18 hours of testing, then actually sitting down to play it to complete it, I had zero crashes, nor any stutters - be that major or micro - just let that sink in for a second, this is UE5! So it just goes to show it can be done!

This genuinely might be the most stable UE5 game that exists, I honestly cannot think of another UE5 game I've had from release, that didn't crash multiple times, gave me stutters, major FPS leaks, stupid immersion breaking bugs and glitches, etc.
This puts to shame in general most day one release games, let alone UE5 games.

Other than them needing to enable DLSS4 Frame generation, Reflex, FSR and hardware Ray Tracing in the menu (like I did by adding a few lines of text in an .ini file which took seconds, just like Silent Hill 2 Remake), it wants for nothing - you can remove the FPS cap and fix the 1 issue with a door not opening later in the game, easily, should you want to - big deal, they'll just add these options to the menu, due to people complaining that it was hidden - the exact same thing happened with Silent Hill 2 Remake on release, and Starfield.

Like I said in my previous post, the Youtubers, must have had some pre-release version, or the 1.00/1.1/1.1.1 release pre-day one, it must have been insanely buggy, to produce what we saw in those stutter videos! That or they're video capture/other background software is causing havoc?
We all know how the internet loves to jump on the band wagon with trolling - I'd love to see the proof that most of these people in the Reddit/Steam posts, actually own the game!

Try it for yourself, and refund it in under 2 hours, you've nothing to loose. Then go buy it for £45.99 which is cheaper than a PS3 game on release ;) and enjoy it! There's easily 15 hours to be had or more on your first playthrough - I have played the original many times, so was about to finish it a bit quicker, there's some bonus stuff you can do as well, if that's of interest.
Most of the negativity, that I can find, seems to be nonsense reshared by trolls, be it the price, stuff to do with the lack of LGBTQ+, and hatred towards Konami for binning Kojima years ago, and claiming they've played it when they don't own it:P

My rushed ranking:

I think it looks rather dated for a game running UE5 and the performance is far too low for how it looks as well There are a host of UE5 games now that get up to double the base fps and look like a modern UE5 game as a reference point.
