No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

What's the point in this? is it jsut an exploring game? is it better to get on Switch 2 or Steamdeck?

Umm kind of a very casual (due to little challenge although you can toggle certain settings) exploration and creative building game.
There's a number of activities, none particularly deep but considering how many there are I think they got the right balance.
For example, you can just hop around random planets trying to find the perfect one to build a huge base on, you can also manage NPC settlements, there is space battles albeit very 'lite', you also have derelict wrecks to explore which can be a challenge, but ultimately it's a giant sandbox with optional quests/missions.
Also community events called expeditions, it's ultimately a casual grindy game that I enjoy when I don't want to play a game that requires me to think too hard.
I'd recommend on SD as from memory it ran at 60fps with a few tweaks, it looks horrible on S2 imo and is 30fps, or you can unlock the frame rate but it's very choppy.
Also on SD I think 2h is enough to decide if you like it enough and if not at least you can refund.

Why is the Steam version full price £49.99 and the Gog version full price £39.99? Both have a 60% discount on at the moment so the Gog version was like £16, so I finally caved at that price. They both looked the same as far as I could see. Who knows when I will actually get round to playing it though. Though if it runs ok on a Steam Deck that might move it up the list a bit.

Same as myself really, picked it up a few weeks back at about £11 odd. Have put about 40hours into it since then solely on my Steam Deck. Not sure on FPS but it runs just fine on the Deck!

I thought the new Switch 2 patch brought this unto a steady 60fps :(
Its either a locked 30fps or average 40fps in unlocked, can go from 30fps to 60fps though docked when unlocked and runs @1440p.

Not got the game myself as not sure i will like it, but seen a lot of videos etc of it on switch 2 and to me it dosnt look to bad graphically with the upgrade.

Got it in the steam sale, just starting out but it seems ok so far.
Sold a ship for 2.5 million and thought I was loaded, intil I saw that everything costs millions.

i find considerably better then what Starfield was. Well worth the money and plenty of updates.

Really? as i didnt mind starfield...does no mans sky have missions etc? like a story? as most the footage ive seen is just mining and collecting things with the gun over and over again, mixed in with base building.

Not sure why they are being compared tbh, nothing alike, unless we're getting down to meta tags.

The one thing I wish they would change in these updates is the UI, its the only thing since release which still irritates the hell out of me, its SUCH a bad UI. Also, please make it so that I dont have to hold a key for stuff, even with the hold to confirm option in the settings there is still way too many things that I have to hold a key down in order to do. If there are two "console" things that I detest in PC versions of games, its the hold a key to do something and the radial wheel to select things. I'm on a PC, give me a PC orientated UI.

I'm new to NMS, just 7 hours into the game. but I just found out about expeditions. Started that with a new save and I've done the first tier. Is it worth doing all the others? do I get to keep anything from the expedition for my main Save?

Yeah you keep stuff from your expedition saves in your main save.

First thing I would do is get yourself minted so when something exotic comes along you can buy it. Get yourself an S class hyperdrive and an economy scanner so you can establish trade routes.

I'm back in on a 60hr save, currently rocking 200mil with S class multitool, 2 s class starships, and an s class freighter (as of last night).

But whose buying it who don’t already own it?
They are a small team and they made bucketloads of money on the game already so have the funds to keep developing it.

Also they are developing Light No Fire in tandem, and various bits of tech from that project are being migrated over to NMS to keep enhancing it.

I go through phases where I dip back in and play for a few weeks as my winding down after work time.....although I've got distracted by Death Stranding 2 recently.

If you just pick it up every few months there's always new stuff, I don't bother with guides and just blunder around doing whatever seems interesting at the time. Was working towards collecting enough parts for some custom ship designs last time. It's still a great looking game to just vibe in. Love it.

ok cool thanks. Does everything pass over to the main save or just some items?
