Republicans have been sharing footage of an elderly white man arrested at the event, claiming he is the shooter. Turns out... he's not. It's unclear if police have even identified the shooter yet.

No news about whether or not he's conscious. But seeing as he made it to the hospital alive, I'll be very surprised if he doesn't pull through.

yeah nah, saw the video, there is no surviving that im sorry. quite clear it must have been a rifle, in and out wound, sliced the artery too, as soon as kirk was hit he slumped over with huge blood pouring out

Well they said he was taken alive to the hospital, so I figured it looked worse than it was. But yeah, he's dead.

 
Well I didn't realise he was some ocuk General pin-up boy, but yeah there are very few people in the world who deserve to go out like that in front of their family and kids. To think otherwise is really bloody weird.

FWIW, I have never agreed with his take on 2nd amendment rights, but to come out and claim he said "School shootings are worth gun ownership" is ridiculous.

This is the problem with the media but then also it's readers.
The media play to a headline that suits them, it might be a bit more creative than what has been said.
Their viewers take headlines as true words and base their entire argument off of a creative angle of a quote.
