What film did you watch last night?

Conjuring Last Rites Imax
7/10
Probably being generous due to Imax and the main story/overarching one

I liked the overall family stuff and it being the end of this arch, main actors looking older now etc, the slow burn stuff was fine, but the last section just seemed massively rushed, therefore it failed to build as much tension as it could have, especially the possession bit

Ringu 8/10
This is never as good as i remember
Spiral (rasen)
5/10 what a weird film, so this was on my Ringu 2 arrow disc as an alternative option to watch. If I recall this was shot same/similar time, direct sequel, it keeps more in line with the books and was panned, so they did Ringu 2, it is not so much a horror film and leans more sci-fi.

Ringu 2 next I guess.

Conjuring last rites - anyone notice

Cameo from the other people they helped from the 1st and 2nd movies? Think James Wan was there too. All sitting in the wedding scene.

Nobody 2 6.5/10

I liked the original. The second instalment definitely leans into comedy much more at the expense of pretty much everything else. It is a good cast and they’ve all done much better work, so it’s shame to see they weren’t given more to work with. Still, if you switch the brain off, it can be a fairly entertaining way to pass an hour and a half.

Heretic. Pretty good, though I don’t think the pay off really did justice to the setup. It sort of went off the rails about 3/4 of the way through and just became a bit more generic. Up until then it was more interesting. Still, Hugh Grant was good.

Yeah first half is really good if a bit slow, but they lacked the imagination to capitalise on it and second half really is very generic.

The Long Walk (2025) - 6/10

A pointless film which somehow still manages to be a riveting tale of camaraderie in a bleak dystopian setting.

The simple concept, lack of world building, blunt imagery and general shallowness of the premise are hard to overlook but the strong acting and drama from the contestants and their conversation topics keep it moving at a good pace and keeps you watching.

The ending was fitting, even though like the rest of the film, it felt as though it didn’t really achieve anything other than a moment of entertainment.

Weapons 8/10, so well done excellent and from someone who doesn't particularly enjoy horror.

Burn after reading 9/10. Just excellence.
