Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

Same thing happened with me, it looked like someone had printed it in their shed with a toyshop printer.

It sounds like UK is getting the short end of the stick, your delivery drivers alone are utter nonsense. Here in the US... it's.... just.... lovely. Hahahahahhaha. Sorry.\

Deliveries are by actual Amazon electric vans, prime next day is next day, I don't watch the Prime TV much but have been surprised not to see any ads (yet), prices are however reasonable, return policy is utterly phenomenal where I can sample and keep the winning choice.

They have however completely crushed any competition which I can't say I agree with so they're the only real choice now. Also the reviews are scary, you can tell which are bot farm reviews because they all read like they've been written by the exact same person, so you need to be really decisive about what you believe.

Personally I've rarely had a problem with Amazon Logistics in the UK, currently I can order up to 2am for next [same] day delivery for a large variety of items, though the next day delivery offering isn't quite what it was at its peak. Despite living out in the sticks as the Americans I believe term it.

Prime Video/TV though the ads have ruined it for me and while £2-3 is neither here nor there I refuse to pay it based on the approach Amazon took to introducing it, eroding the pre-existing offering looking purely at their bottom line and not even any sweetener for the customer and when I spend the amount I do at Amazon it is pure nickel and diming on their part.

Amazon has had a mixed impact on the UK - they've not yet managed to crush the likes of Argos, but they have put many other competitors out of business but they do also provide a framework for many smaller companies to use their logistics who might otherwise not have the success they have. Amazon can't yet match up to Argos' USP of having a large amount of items available same day - something I think Argos needs to put more effort into as I think it is something ultimately not worth Amazon pursuing in the UK.

You really do need to use some shrewdness when it comes to the reviews, I've not found it too bot farm like but that does happen - though that might be partly down to just how long I've been doing this so that shills and so on stand out immediately and I tend to filter them out of my thinking without even really thinking about it.

I still don’t really ‘get’ why people pay prime for ‘free’ delivery when Amazon will deliver most stuff for free anyway.

I ordered something at 6pm the other day with free ‘super saver’ delivery and it came the next day.

I can only assume that people have just got far too reliant on Amazon and order high volumes of low quality/value items which they consume constantly.

Some people I know get amazon deliveries daily, I’ve got no idea what they spend their money on mind but it probably correlates with complaints about not having any.

Like you said, it’s the lower cost consumables that aren’t easy to pick up in supermarkets that makes it worth while.

I’d like to cancel but makes more sense to keep it, we get everything from office consumables to house stuff.

Quite often use it for similar things, not unusual to find the same product cheaper than the local Tesco and it means I don't have to brave the local Tesco :D

I don't have prime, pretty much everything comes the next day anyway.

Order below £35 I generally just use eBay.

To be honest though I don't use Amazon much at all, less than £200 a year. Pretty horrendous company really.

I tend to avoid Amazon but I’ve got price alters set up for things I was looking to buy.

When you get a notification for a time limited price at well below what you are willing to pay, sometimes you have to pounce.

Personally a mixture of impatience, even when it doesn't matter if things don't turn up for a day or two, and not the most forward planning sometimes - I'll order odd bits and pieces as I think about them rather than build up a basket and do it all at once on one day.

Yep, looking at our household order history this month, it is random stuff like dog shampoo, buggy carabiners, lady stuff, baby stuff.. all things we need but could only get at an out of town retail park.

I’ve used Prime video a bit too.

Would rather not pay it but it all works out.

Yeah over like 4-5 days I ordered some trousers for work, toothbrushes, effervescent vitamin tablets, and a few bits and pieces of electronics stuff for soldering spread over several deliveries when I could have done it all at once, all of it fairly low value but would mean shopping around to find it all elsewhere.

Just had a thought. I want to go watch the new Demon Slayer movie, but it's £15 a ticket....and remember I have Prime where i can get 2 Odeon tickets for £10!

Even though my friend won't come...I am still saving £5. That alone pays for most of prime sub this month.

I have had prime for absolutely AGES, and back then you can add friends and family to it for free. So my sister is on it, and someone I used to work with who has haven't seen for 10 years is still on it.

They both get free Prime benefits with it, with their own emails and everything, including Prime Music (free tier), and delivery. I know i am the smuck who pays for it and I could remove that old friend from it but if you have an old account like me, you could have had 4 other people and ME on the same account for the price of 1 sub.

*I try not to touch the settings in that side of things because my sister basically get Prime for nothing and not going to mess it up by removing the old friend.

Already being phased out - my old household sharing (which was actually used within my household) got switched off a month ago :( and the replacement family plan doesn't work properly and Amazon seem to have no interest in fixing it :( - partly because I won't enable payment sharing which is against the terms of my bank... means other people in my household are now shopping more at places other than Amazon LOL.

IIRC - that’s all going away shortly.
Yes my old family sharing has gone too. I shared the cost with my mother in law and my wife, we split the cost yearly so it used to be great value at £35 for a year. I never watch prime anymore and rarely buy anything of value, the last item being a flint 2 in February. I'm quite tempted to get rid but I don't think I can persuade the Mrs as she uses them a ton running up to Christmas.

Why are the reviews no longer on the main page? I now have to click on the little stars to bring up the table, and from there select 1-5 stars to see the results. It seems Amazon sellers don't like reviews so up-front and Amazon have complied..
