So these are the comparisons with the latest fit (left), and the very first I did (after eyeballing the setup, and using a bit of the Zwift Ride recommendation)(right):
Great info and thanks for sharing. Got a link to the app? Quite intrigued what it'll say about my fit(s)
Can you adjust the positions on it after the AI detection? Your hip looks detected quite differently between the 2, but that could be as you're in different shorts so 'looks worse than it is'.
From the various fits I've had the fitters tended to have me pedalling easy and then use fingers to feel the outside of the knee and where the hip was to get the exact location, then stick little detection sensors on them. Either a sticky white/black dot, one early fit even had sticky pads, with a cable connecting each in series - would guess no camera detection with that one. I've had a fitter use little ruler things to measure angles when in certain positions, then the last couple (RETUL) with camera system would show angles directly on the video feel, live/active as pedalling (which was very cool)
I noticed that, but I can’t quite believe I need to lower it that low! I’m getting to the point the saddle is the same height as the bars! (I do have quite short legs though, as my misses keeps reminding me!)
I don’t think it tracks that, not sure how it would reliably. I’ll see how the Zwift ride tomorrow feels.
3cm is quite a drop - how did the sizing compare to your Factor - did you even try and copy those to the Ride or just eyeball and start from scratch?
You do look to be 'stretching' to get to the bottom of the pedal stroke in your first pictures - note the toe pointing. Dropping the height with the arms out (if comfortable) will make you a bit more aero (not that it matters indoors). As with anything - especially the 3cm saddle drop - small gradual changes. But I guess with the Ride being new for you it's all a bit different anyway?! How does it feel? Racing ZRL later?
Its half science, half intuition and 1/4 trial and error.
All of this is spot on - different people have different experiences. Much of it related to what they're coming from and what their goals are rather than just a 'bike fit' like a Pro would have (to maximise speed).
My last fit (although only had 4 different over the years!) at least half of the 'session' was around flexibility and looking at how my current setup was working. A focus on stretching exercises and increasing my mobility on the bike, increasing some ankle flex in my left without impacting my right (shorter crank lengths) to then reduce some of my saddle rock - for more comfort & less strain/sores. Then a discussion around aims/goals/targets before he even got to tweaking the bike - it was less about changing the bike to fit me to give me more power or speed, more aimed around comfort and flexibility/avoiding injury/more efficient due to my feelings/goals. But I had gone in to judge frame size and fit before purchasing a new bike...
