Tv censor/editing these days :(

Me when my 50 year old daytime television edits out the blatant racism :(

I do always find these threads funny when they're posted on what I can only describe as the most hard stance forum for censoring comments I've ever used :p.

To be fair, I didnt say you couldnt, I was merely answering your question, not applying any meaning to the answer. Anyone who has watched Jimmy Carr knows you can make very dodgy jokes these days.
Billy will still say similiar, just like his old shows:P

This in a nutshell :D

Fawlty towers has bits edited out, porridge has bits cut out plus blurring in the background of the page 3 girls in the cell. Ofah has bits cut out. If you're not going to show them in their original form in case some 18 year old wannabe journalist ******** is gonna get offended then just don't show them anymore.

That happened a while ago, some "journalist" was aghast at only fools with the back and forth with Rodney and Grandad
about Sidney Poitier's name with grandad calling him Potter.

Here's the article from the triggered little darling in question.

And more hand wringing crap.

There's one OFAH episode I'm amazed hasn't been edited due to what's going on with migration and "asylum seekers" being in the spotlight. One episode has Rodney be elected head of the tenants association and grandad and del hatch a plan to get a new house with grandad acting like he cant manage the stairs. A dr comes to visit grandad and he mentions new council bungalows being built. Del says something like "yeah they're lovely, but you need to have 12 kids and speak with a foreign accent to get one of those".

Wonder how long before that's cut out due to some whinging.

.... whaaaaaaaaaaat?

"Modern audiences" are watching 30-minute episodes, or *shock horror* feature-length films in full?

They should be sticking to short form videos such as TikTok and reels as that's all their attention spans will allow them.

Watching might be a strong word, 28 mins on their phones and 2 mins of watching might be closer to the truth :p

Sorry to skim read, but from memory, that's the legendary "Gary!" episode? Why the guy that later went on to be in literally everything, Nabil Elouahabi? Be that Elden Ring, Valorant, Rise Of The Footsoldier II, Vera, Top Boy, Casualty, and many others?
I'm sure he's gutted that he portrayed a foreigner that couldn't speak English, that tried to do whatever he could to stay in a country that he'd run to for safety?
People really need to calm down, as that Billy video I linked above proves.
I swear people these days are literally looking for an argument, in order to feel self worth?
It's just as pathetic as women accusing men of 'mansplaining' then 'womansplaining' back to them

The episode the first girl is crying about is the first episode, the second one whinges about that as well but goes on to talk about one of the later episodes with Del in hospital. All this hand wringing and fake outrage over something that was aired before they were a glint in the milkmans eye ffs.

It's called `nostalgia` m8:)
I remember nostalgia in the past, it was so much better than the second rate, namby pamby stuff we get lumbered with today.

Sounds like the new Encore cut and sadly that will be on the new 4K release as well.
I did wonder that a bit, but wasn't sure what the edits/differences were.
IMDB suggests there were at least something like 4 versions back in the day, not including any of the TV network edits (I think it was the director of Airplane! who mentioned in the commentary for his film that he must have seen dozens of versions as it seemed that everywhere he went TV networks made slight changes/used different mixes of the versions he did for theatrical and IIRC airline/cruise ships or network TV).

Has Blackadder been neutered too? I only ever watch it on DVD if I feel like a chuckle but there are a few passages which definitely would upset the modern audience (biggest one being from S2 "screaming bender unfit for life on earth" comment delivered by the leech prescribing doctor... ).

Y'all seem to be fine with using this forum which is basically CBeebies levels of censorship :P

Sure, no swearing on this forum and a few other rules like competitors and medical threads, but it's really not that bad.

If you want censorship, then look no further than ResetERA (formerly NeoGAF). It's a tech/gaming forum, so not a million miles away from Overclockers but it's an echo chamber of groupthink. Most threads are politicised including the gaming threads and any mentions of Cyberpunk 2077 or Hogwarts Legacy will get you perma'd, citing "dismissive attitude towards [insert culture war]". Anything to the right of the Guardian or Jeremy Corbyn is silenced.
