What film did you watch last night?

Watched Kill Shot on prime.
One of the worst action movies i have ever seen.
Kinda like a low budget cliffhanger inspired movie with bad acting and even worse gunfights.
1/10

Burn After Reading - 7/10

I feel this should have been funnier than it actually was. The concept had potential and the cast is ridiculously all-star. There is a few funny scenes but overall it felt a bit damp.

just back from Downton Abbey, the grand finale , 3/10.
Not really my cup of tea, my mum and sister asked me if I wanted to see it, to which I bluntly said no, I don't want to actually "see" it, so they changed their tack and asked if I would accompany them, to which I said alright.
It was mainly aboutwatch the handing down of the place to the next generation, with a bit of documenting how standards and conventions were starting to change, concerning homo sexuality, and divorce, also treating people of the lower classes with dignity and respect
Watched the film prior to this one with my mum the night before, which was a good idea, because I probably would have been a lot more lost watching it than I was.
had a really great sleep during the middle, then watched the end, which was alright, a little funny even
My mum and sister loved it because they had already watched the series, and it was a nice tie-up for them, but it was almost totally lost on me. Luckily, they had already killed off Maggie Smith in the film before this one, so there was no awkward plot explaining why she wasn't around(the film was dedicated to her, though)
3/10 from me; this would probably rise to a 6/10 if one were really into the series already
worth it for the sleep!

I saw that in the cinema with the wife. She enjoyed it more than I did. It was kinda all over the shop. Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette were bonkers. Parasite was a far superior film from that director. Snowpiercer was also better. If you want the cloned people angle, watch Moon.

Been a while since I watched Moon but is that not a bit of a spoiler?

You’re probably right. Mind you, as I recall, it’s early in the film that the clones come to light, so it’s not like it’s the final piece of the puzzle that explains the previous 2 hours of film.

Yeah, I can't fully remember the exact course of events (it's 16 years old!) but just thought I'd point it out.

Good movie, though. Might have to give it another watch.

Watched the latest Mission Impossible, Final Reckoning. I never thought I would say that a Mission Impossible film could be boring

It might be recently bias here but I think maybe even the 2nd film was better, it at least has a good OST. It seems like they doubled down on everything that was bad about Dead Reckoning and removed everything that was good about it. Even from technically standpoint it was disappointing, the quick cuts in the submarine section ruined the illusion of what they were trying to do, the music wasn't up to much and the story wasn't interesting. I sort of want another one to give franchise the send off it deserves.

And if I may be allowed a nit-pick, you can have Tom Cruise hanging off the side of a plane but you still use CGI gunfire

The Hot Rock (1972) 7/10

We decided to watch a Robert Redford movie after hearing about his sad passing last week :(. Empire also ran a feature about some of his lesser-known films and we hadn't seen or even heard of this one.

A solid little heist movie, where nothing really seems to go to plan for our slightly hapless group. Redford's easy charm and charisma really elevate this tale, along with a great turn from George Segal as his friend and brother-in-law. Both help make our quartet a likeable bunch and have you rooting for them. Sure, at times it does feel a bit dated and would have benefited from eking out some more tension and suspense in a few key scenes, but other than that it's an enjoyable little romp as long as you don’t take it too seriously.

Fantastic Four First Steps 5.5/10

I really liked the setting, it was something a bit different. Cast didn't have a lit to work with. Pascal didn't work as Reed Richards for me.

Not sure why the made Inneson do a daft voice for Galctus either. The Silver Surfer was a bit of an afterthought too.

Sanjuro - Probably my favourite Kurosawa/Mifune film due to its light-hearted humour and Mifune's comic timing. Most of Kurosawa's films have recieved a 4k remaster so I'll get round to watching the others too.

On a side note and a different director, I need to see when the 4k of Mononoke Hime is being release to the public. Another film I could do to revist.

Little mermaid live action.

Somehow I missed this in cinema.

8/10
Really enjoyed it. Actually prefer it to the original and songs were much better.

But I'd trade her. I'd love to be a merman!

4 started and not finished.
Ice Road: Vengeance, utterly awful acting, cgi and plot.
The Union, ridiculous plot think it must be a kids film.
Die Alone, pretty rubbish acting but the zombies were ridiculously bad.
Novocaine, bit silly but watchable. Fell asleep but not due to the film. Will continue this later.

Watched the new Superman movie on Sky last night with the kids. It was corny as hell and not a touch on the Cavil superman movies, but it was good enough as a TV rental. Glad I didn't pay for the cinema for it though. Looking at the new FF4 movie for next Friday - any opinions?
