50% Game pass increase incoming!

It's more than 50% increase

If I want to keep playing day one new releases I have to switch tier and the new ultimate tier price is 170% higher than I pay now

It's not worth it anymore to stay subscribed monthly, I'll be going back to what I used to do which is subscribe for 2 months per year, spaced out and play all the games that released in between, this way I still play every game but only pay two months fees

They're killing GP stone dead, just like they have every other area of their gaming portfolio. They should just get out now, they're the Google graveyard of gaming.

Yup, I don't think the death of GP will be far away. A lot of people will cancel their sub with this latest announcement, which could lead to MS responding with another price hike ... or I suspect they may just use it as an excuse to kill the service using "unsupportive" gamers as an alibi for their actions.

People say the same thing about Netflix etc.

Microsoft will find a way to entice people to keep paying :(

I don't think what's happened with NF neccesarily follows with GP, NF gets bundled with all sorts of things, but much more importantly than that, I don't think NF customers are very discerning at all, their content is dog water compared to what it used to be, which proves they'll pay to have anything playing in the background while they doom scroll.

I think gaming being requiring active participation, rather than passive makes it a different proposition.

Also NF, is a far better run operation than M$ gaming division who have ruined everything they have touched.

MS are silly GP currently generates them something like $500m per month in income! That's a lot of gamers happy to pay the current lower tier rates.

Now they want up to 38% more...do not think they will retain their $500m per month income stream for much longer. Its a big gaming industry problem though as modern games cost way too much money to make so prices are going up steeply.

Also dunno if you guys noticed but call of duty will now only be available on the Ultimate tier; if I'm reading it right future COD games will never be available on any other subscription

And then they'll move COD into a tier above premium, and charge more for that. Call it Platinum or something similair. And then of course EVEN MORE features in lower tiers will be moved to only be available in a higher tier, we've seen this model before in gaming, and in many sectors.

When mine runs out, I won't be renewing (stacking) but just going to sub for a month when i want to play something. If that game is on another platform, I will be playing it elsewhere.

Keep forgetting to cancel Game Pass tbh. like Netflix and Prime Video, eventually run out of reasons to keep. That said, with £50-80 games being the norm now, I'm probably buying GTA6 when it comes out in 5 years and that's it
That will probably be the only game I buy at launch, happy to wait a year or two and get games for 1/4 of the launch prices especially with the state that many release in these days.

Just found 3 months for £33 on shopto so I bought a few of those to top myself up until Feb 2027. I will be damned if I will renew for £23 a month after though.

My whole family uses it so I really want to keep it going and I will play horizon 6 next year so its worth it for now
