Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Anyone else playing this?

I just resumed it. Just got to upper Junon. The CGI and graphics as a whole are very good. Such a shame they have padded the game out with so much filler because they got the rest right from what I can see.

I will be sticking to story only for the most part I think. Done pretty much all side content up until this point.

Parked it after Costa I think but just due to playing other games. Not doing any side content, playing on easiest as I hate the combat, so it's quite enjoyable. So much cringe in it though, can be uncomfortable at times lol.

I was thinking of restarting it but instead decided to finally restart Cyberpunk which I'm having good fun with

Beating a dead horse here but the side content becomes more annoying at the point you're at, skipping it is probable for the best and leaves a fairly tight narrative. Tbh it's the way you're ultimately forced to explore in Gongoa and later areas that is the most annoying but thankfully unnecessary.

Keep playing the card game is the only side quest I'd say is worth continuing if you enjoy it, good pay off and tons of fun.

Dont know why but I'm really struggling to get back into this. I'm in Costa del Sol. At this point I'm feeling like I'll just let it sit until the final part is about to release.
Its not that I'm not enjoying it but the limited time I have to game these days I'm usually torn in other directions when I do want to play.

I know what you mean. I like the game. Love graphics and sound in particular. But I don't find that it is pulling me in the way it should.

Not a huge fan of the battle system and the filler stuff.

That said, as long as I don’t take a break from it and only play it and no other games I am ok. That's the plan. Will only play this and stick to main story until it is completed I think.

Did you collect the key from the Sierra doll house? You won't be able to proceed further into the game, and you can't go back, and you'll die when you approach the door to the next stage.

No idea. Was that meant to be in Junon? I only just got to Costa del Sol :D

I think I'll pass

Not really playing to 100% it. Had they just made the game like the OG with updated graphics etc i would 100% be doing this. But not a big enough fan of what they came up with to care enough.

They really should not have split the game into 3. Bad idea imo. They milking it too much.

I am hoping in 15-20 years we will get a proper remake of the OG game. Probably by then AI will be able to make most of it on it's own and get it right.

I do image a future where AI makes games and team sizes become relatively small.

Indeed, Rebirth was way too repetitive for me. A stark example of quantity over quality.

yeah there was a lot of repetitive stuff or filler material around 80% of the game, I forget what

Forgettable filler :D

The OG game is easily in my top 3 games of all time. The remakes, not so much.

What they did get right was graphics and sound. It keeps me enjoying the game enough to want to play more. There are parts of the game that put a smile on my face.

It was all the same activities but with different colours, almost like they copied and pasted. I bought a PS5 in anticipation of this game and I was disappointed.

the filler stuff.
I hear ya! There is a lot of "filler" Its got a Ubisoft feel to the game. Its the same rinse and repeat activities in each new area to flesh out what should be 1 game into 3 separate instalments.

I'm being a bit harsh as it really is a good game. it does definitely feel like they have had to pad it out a little too much.
Original FFVII was easily in my top 3 ever. It was a gamechanger for RPG experiences for me. It felt HUGE!!! The characters, music and art style all added up to make a magical experience.

Damn man. Wtf have they done to this game. I am in costa del sol and so much mandatory filler it's unreal.

Did the crap with cloud, now they got me doing it with Tifa and Aeris. Feels like a chore rather than enjoying the awesome game the OG one is.

I gave up at that point and never returned. This game would make Ubisoft blush with the amount of filler content it has.

I will power through, but it just feels wrong. Greedy ******* devs is what it is. Needed to be 1 game. Not 3.

I love what they've done so we're at odds there, at least within the main narrative.

That said, I 100% feel there's room for a 1 to 1 remake using the same engine of the original and they'd be barmy as all hell to not do it after the final part of the trilogy. They'd have all of the needed assets, they've nailed the engine (I hope), it should be super easy for them to do it. I'm sure many will see it as milking but I'd not mind that frankly given the pure amount of work that has went into everything. I'd be mad as all hell if they'd not done anything other than stretch things out needlessly, and while you can view them as having done that they also utterly went nuts with genuine content. It's not like playing an Ubisoft game where it's fetch quests in a random open world with nothing of worth, you can tell there is a lot of love. It's just awkwardly done and too much more often than not, I recommend everyone sticks to the main narrative in Rebirth for obvious reasons but I'm honestly glad to have the world more fleshed out. I got to see things in ways I never did as an obsessed early-mid teen that always felt the game was a bit unfinished, and as a grumpy old flumper is happy to ignore certain bits.

TLDR: If they used the same assets and then fully VA'd the OG after part 3 of Remake and called it "FF7OR" or whatever they'd make huge bank.
