Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Spent all day yesterday doing side stuff, reading all the menus, learning the combat, Queens Blood, and honestly it was more fun than progressing the story.

Open world is very Ubisoft like and generic, but i'm still enjoying it. It's been ages since i've played anything open world, i think last one i played was Elden Ring.

Will be exploring the Under Junon map some more, then progressing on with story again.

I'm still Exploring the first area, trying to complete as much of it as I can, well the obvious stuff at least before I move on with the story.

I'll probably enjoy it more just because of the more varied environments. Remake had so many dull bits like the corkscrew tunnel, the barrel and just all the industrial boring stuff.

I was another one of those FF7 obsessed kids in school on the PS1.

I played the Remake on the PS4 when it released and loved it. Picked up the PC twin pack afew weeks ago from CD Keys and had a replay through Remake with the "boost" start to get myself up to speed.

Started Rebirth this afternoon and just completed the Chapter 1 flashback to Nibelheim.

Absolutely loved it, looking forward to getting my teeth into the full game.

Unfortunately haven't got as much done in it as I wanted last couple days, when I have played I've been doing the open world content just clearing up objectives and quests

Off topic but I've been starting my modding of FF13 and noticed the person who makes the 4K 60fps upscaled FMV and cutscenes also made a mod for Remake

Played the card game and went to some shops etc.

Graphics look gorgeous imo. Just playing it chilled. Won't rush the story or anything. Going to play slow and explore and do all the quests I think.

I've 100%'d Grasslands and yeah, I'm not sold on the open world part of the game. The graphics are stunning, the music is beautiful, I like the characters more that I ever did in the original, the card game is growing on me fast and I enjoy the named side quests for the most part but the world intel is just such blatant padding. The problem is some side quests seem to be locked behind later stages of the world intel so I can't even just do them. I do enjoy the odd world intel quest, like the 'secret' bosses and the protorelic quests look as though they're going to be decent enough but it the majority are just...meh. It bewilders me that they nailed side content in 1997 but the whole industry seems to have regressed to towers and icons on a map directing you to do the same thing over and over. The game is just so much better when it's being Final Fantasy VII, not Assassin's Creed - Rebirth.

I'm so sick of that silver haired **** and his annoying little sidekick as well. Literally every 5 seconds, I swear he must have the most dialogue in the entire game with how it's gone in my first 7-8 hours.

My main gripe of the game... ******* Chadley! Bold decision making such a frustrating little dweeb so prominent in the game.

I'm in the Junon area now. Whilst the world looks absolutely fantastic, it feels very small.

Is Chadley a pointless character like that weird motorbike guy from remake? Seemingly with far more screen time.

Nah he's in Remake as well but a little less prominent. He's like a guide to the world and gives you loads of side quests etc in Rebirth. I just skip through most of his dialogue when I can but he chirps up a lot over radio throughout play.

Oh yeah the guy who gives you 'challenges' and makes materia. Sounds annoying anyway!

I was hoping he would be in there a lot. Loved him in the remake. The more Chutney the better!

Aw gawd. He is going to be annoying

Yeah i didn't mind Chadley at first, but once i started exploring and finding new locations he just kept popping up again and again, hope it calms down later and it's just more of an initial thing.

He pops up fairly consistently as you move to new areas pretty much til the end. The curse of open world, can't have people missing out on content.

Yes, I don't like the side content and this was my main criticism when I played it on PS5, Chadley is very annoying. If I play it again on PC I'm going to skip pretty much all of it. A tip is to select dynamic difficulty if you do this so the monsters scale to your level.
