i miss my psx/ps2/xbox modding days so seeing this thread gives me some enjoyment there is someone out there smashing out repairs on stuff 
No but I should at some point! I did start writing a switch guide but got bored.
@Vidar - your pad was up this morning...
New sticks and new buttons... Sticks felt a bit worn so took the liberty of swapping them as well.

Totally depends who you ask and what tools they are using. Took about 20 mins to fix it up in total swapping out the old sticks and buttons and solder new ones up. The elite boards are very thick though so I tend to work fast and hot a lot of the time with them so around 450c to get heat into the board and get things moving.
I did just update and calibrate the pad so swing me your addy and ill get it on its way back.

My Elite 2 left stick has stick drift. Need to get it repaired as it's fighting me more than BF6 bots.

Proper fixing session yesterday...
Nothing super interesting, one of the one X had a different problem I've not seen yet, there is a regulator that when you hit the power button fires up. This one that reg was faulty so appeared no power. First time I've actually seen this reg blow so interesting, everything else pretty simple both MD had cold joints on dc Jack, both PS2 had laser issues... The swan games I rom swapped for English translations.. including the new clocktower translation! Much fun was had.

Plenty have done all sorts to ps2's and other consoles done xstation, xreset, dfo's etc on the ps1, a random saroo saturn build, restorations on old school stuff. All kinds, love it.
That's so cool, I've seen lots of videos of people modding old consoles. It could become a dangerous habit if stuff like the mega drive could be gotten working on a modern tv and feel like it did. I'm even contemplating one of those mister fpga systems but hate how it looks
Loads of mods for the MD! mine has a 3BP (also known as a triple bypass) in it which bypasses audio and video outputs and pushes them to more modern chips for output. On the MK1 it gives a full rgb output that I feed into a scaler for a really nice picture on modern TV's
