surprisingly, after some bios updates it does (I enabled it in BIOS and it has the green tick on Intel Driver thing)

also I've been playing around with the settings and it seems the problems are linked with V-Sync. It runs like **** with V-sync on and it runs 4K, Ultra settings, Xess quality at around 60fps with slight drops with v-sync off.

But I get screen tearing. But the weird thing is I've seen it do this before and run with no screen tearing while v-sync is off.

the cards performance is good but I cant figure out how to set it right

It runs nicely with v-sync turned off. Pretty smooth and good graphics. Think its at 4k-High-Xess Performance

Getting a wee bit of screen tearing but not that bad. Weird how turning V-Sync on turns it all to ****

Good card but janky
 
Are you using HDMI or DisplayPort? It sounds like the card and monitor aren't negotiating variable refresh rate.
I'm using HDMI. I will try Displayport next time. Didn't even think of that

I've been doing Windowed then pressing Alt + Enter to make it full screen.

I read on reddit doing the Alt + Enter way may improve performance and I think it does increase GPU utilisation for some reason
 
Hdmi is a fickle thing, my tv doesn't show the screen until I turn off input signal plus, apparently it's the tv's way of saying my hdmi cable is crap or at least not up to snuff.

I'm finding that I get screen tearing with the b580 which is annoying when you're trying to spot the enemy.

I'm going to turn vsync on and see what happens, it's not really going to be an issue for long as I have a 9070xt coming anyway.

Disable vsync
Enable freesync/async

I forgot to bring my displayport cable home with me so cant test it tonight. But I was looking in the Intel graphics software app and it says my monitor doesnt support VRR so that probs explains all the screen tearing im having. I have the Asus 289Q

Seems I've inadvertently fixed it, ended up buying a high speed hdmi cable, as I had to disable input signal plus on every boot as others have had this issue with Samsung TV's.

ChatGPT told me to Frame limit it to 58fps and there seems to be no more screen tearing.

The Root Problem


The ASUS VG289Q is a 60 Hz panel that supports Adaptive Sync (FreeSync), but:
  • Its FreeSync range is 48–60 Hz only (very narrow).
  • Intel Arc’s VRR implementation can be hit-or-miss in that tight band — especially with games that fluctuate between 55–70 FPS.
When the framerate goes above 60 Hz or below 48 Hz, VRR disengages and screen tearing or stutter reappears. That’s almost certainly what you’re seeing.

Step-by-Step Fix Plan

A. Lock the Frame Rate Below the Panel Limit

  • Use RTSS (RivaTuner Statistics Server) or in-game limiter (not Intel’s software) to cap at 58 FPS.
  • Why 58? It keeps the framerate within the VRR window (under 60 Hz ceiling) while allowing the VRR to remain engaged.

For gamers:

In Cyberpunk 2077 (4K, XeSS 2 Quality, High/Medium settings combo), I observed roughly 5 FPS lower with the Pro drivers - around 60 FPS on Game vs. 55 FPS on Pro.

Note he is running at 4k!

@Gibbo - there are a couple of comments about being unable to find a UK supplier - an opportunity for OCUK?
