Thanks, I'll see how it goes (the covers were advertised as having "proper" bolts), but who knows.
I've got a pretty good feel for not snapping bolts etc, so should be ok (famous last words).

Measure the bolts you take out and how much longer the ones with the cover needs to be... also don't forget the washers, it makes a difference

Tyre pressures. What do you lot roll with? The stuff in the user book, or the stuff on the tyres themselves?

Also also, probably a question for @JonRGV250 - how loose does the chain have to be for it to fail? It's loose, but not terribly so. Not sure if I'm overthinking it.
Start with what is recommended for your bike, then adjust from there, I find the standard 36/42 far too hard and will usually run around 32/38.

This.

My S1000R is pretty harsh on the roads I gravitate towards, as my weight is probably on the lighter side for the springs, and even the DDC doesn't help. I dropped the front to 33 and rear to 37, and it made a noticeable difference

Had a look at a nice M1000r yesterday, looking around €18k for a newish one, do I go another route as I’ve already had an S1000r?
Take one for a spin if you can - see what the addition of the shift cam engine will do

CBT day…went well for me, not so well for my daughter, she made it all the way to the road drive part but messed up the u-turn. She’s not been put off and being Autistic as well she was very over stimulated by that point in the day. It also didn’t start great for her having to switch to an automatic as she was to short legged for the manuals at the school.

Needless to say she’s taken it in her stride and we are already planning the next steps to get her up to speed.

yeah it's a lot to take in, everything on geared bike, I was getting over whelmed and went onto 50cc scooter.

Guess U turn on manual can be tricky as you have to have clutch/throttle control as you turn bars, if you jolt forward or stall in u turn that's not good.

Just to say, don't worry too much about leg length, longer term. I used to worry with 30 inch legs but the best trail rider I know is about 5ft tall and rode everything I did across some fun Portuguese trails on a GS.

Plus being light makes every bike a bit faster :D

Guy I know is a tad under 5ft. He can't sit on a sports bike with his feet remotely near the floor but **** me can he ride one! :D I envy how fast every bike must feel for him. He only weighs about 50kg. I was heavier than that when I was 12! Lucky *******.

KTM are really making a point with that bike, and I'm all for it. They've basically flung everything including the kitchen sink at it, and at a reasonable price too. I also love the fact that they basically held a journo cup on the launch, allowing them to race each other on their machines. It's very evident what KTM are trying to achieve and I'm absolutely all for it. I might even consider one when they start hitting the used market. Might even be an option for @Captain.

Also random musings is realising how impractical motorcycles are. I stopped at Sainsbury's on the way home the other day like I often do, and then clicked that I had no storage, so rather than my usual massive haul like I do on my scooter, I got home with a bag of coffee stuffed in my jacket :p

Also my phone mount doesn't fit this bike, and there's no charging socket (as to be expected from a bike that was built when we were using 486s).

Gonna hafta mod it a bit with some creature comforts I think.

I had to get a 4m x 1.5 x 18mm board of plywood, 8 x 45cm flagstone, 8 x bags of 20kg pebbles.

No way to fit that on motorbike or pushbike.
