Also random musings is realising how impractical motorcycles are. I stopped at Sainsbury's on the way home the other day like I often do, and then clicked that I had no storage, so rather than my usual massive haul like I do on my scooter, I got home with a bag of coffee stuffed in my jacket :p
You can try the tank cover below and get a tank bag to fit on it. My bike has the same brand.

@Diddums Check the capacity of the Tank bag, it is expanded in this image.

Cheers dude, will have a look. I'm not too keen on tank bags for for the same reason I don't like bonnet bras, they trap dirt underneath and ruin your paint.

Cos, yanno, the paint on my bike is pristine and all that.
Lol. Hence the tank cover for the Bag. :)
The paint on my bike tank is not damaged. These are really good. Plus the added advantage of wind protection, the difference is big with and without the bag.

Can you not get a tank ring mount thing for that? I've got this on my KTM where some SW-Motech bits go on with some replacement longer bolts. Then the bag clips on using magic and magnets to that tank ring. Winner winner, ingredients for a chicken dinner.

Anyone used a fake quad lock?

For a quad lock setup with anti-vibration I'm looking at 100 notes easily. AliExpress has a fake one for less than a tenner. Thoughts?

I just found this on AliExpress: Please help me choose!
£13.00 | Motorcycle Phone Mount Bicycle Cell Phone Holder Anti-Shake Bike Cell Phone Holder with Vibration Dampener Bicycle Accessories

I'd say if your phone is also worth ten quid (and you want China to win :p) then go for it.

But for the amount of banging about, vibrations and mishandling mine goes through, plus it having an expensive phone on it, plus I heard China just hacked your... fridge... I'll stick with the real thing.

Screw it, I ordered some fake thing which screws on to the brake reservoir. I'll see how it goes. If it doesn't fill me with confidence I'll just sell it on and get the real deal.

@LowEndTorque can you post a side photo of your bike with the bag on for me please? I'm quite tempted, need to see if it'll get in the way though. The ZZR is actually a lot more leant over than I initially thought.

Also, **** this weather. I genuinely thought I could tweak the carbs a bit today and go for a blat, sadly mother nature is like "**** you lol".

Here you go. At NEC you can sit on the Ninja H2 SX and the Hayabusa if you get a chance. The Blackbird for my height is right in between those two in terms of lean over the bars.

Radiator guard or the likes... Yes. Ali all day. Phone holder for my £500 phone? Maybe not.

You can always strap a piece of wood in and see if it stays there on the cheap one. Quadlocks have indeed become rather expensive the last few years.

Yep, on the drive in at 5:45 this morning it was howling down, worst rain I've seen all year I think. Saw two dudes on bikes, crawling along at 40mph or so on the A3. I could feel my skin burning just looking at them, the poor buggers :D

I took the car because it was lashing down also, but when I actually left the rain had just stopped and barely rained in the half an hour to work, there was accidents and traffic everywhere wish I had taken the bike :p

Bikers of OCUK!

How much have you found there's a seasonal variation in the prices of bikes these days? As the weather closes in, is it really possible to get a "good deal" on a bike, under the theory that less people are buying them at this time of year and later? (of course, offsetting any savings with the additional costs of running/insuring it/etc during the winter, whilst potentially not seeing much use vs just buying in spring)

And yes, this may garner some "fair weather biker" accusations, which I will say "no comment" to!

I got my Blackbird last year in October. It just completed a year under my ownership few days ago. Price is really dependant on sellers. I got it privately and managed to knock down £100 politely of the listed price.

And yes, prices do some down this time of the year. They won't/don't plummet to be honest, but a few 100 quid in your pocket isn't bad at all.

Think of it as an end of season sale. :D

Yes, I found that bikes definitely tend to go down a bit in price this time of year. Not by much, and only private sellers.

I tend to just get hammered and go on ebay, then get in a bidding war and overspend on an absolute dog.

Things move slower in winter at the dealers I frequent, at least. With my second K1300S they actually rang me to say they were getting it in, and did I want it - for a bargain price.

But as ever, sales people are tinkers, and so will try and get what they can get. Go in desperate for 'that bike' and you'll be hearing how busy they are :D.

I'm just hoping KTM decide they're so not busy in December my 36k valve clearance check will be a bit cheaper .

@dangermouse425 did you come on an OC UK rideout about... 12 years ago on that bike in your sig? I think a few of us met in some carpark on the Reading side of the A33. I recall a similar bike, plus that @agnes fella with a Ducati and a lady friend that he forgot to put back on the back at one stop .

Goodness, that's an excellent memory you've got there! What were you riding at the time? Still got it?

I did indeed, on my Bonnie. Still regret selling it, never quite found a bike that felt "me" since.

I bought a Street Triple R alongside the Bonnie for something a little different, whilst not wanting to let the Bonnie go.

Then traced both in for an S1000RR that I only had for a few months.

Bought a nearly new Thruxton R with 500mi on it, which I hardly rode and left in the garage to depreciate like a rock.

Finally, tried a Tiger 800 XCA, hoping that practicality would get me using my bike more. It didn't.

I've been bikeless for about five years now, which is sufficiently long enough to make me wonder if I should get back on two wheels!

Current obsession is the BMW R18...

Aha!

I think, it may have been longer than that and I had the F800ST. Horrible grey thing. Or I may have been on my first K1300S, black, red, grey thing. I was leading because I had nav, if I recall.

I then had another K, I also had an S1000RR briefly too :D. Then a 1250 GS for about a year, and then I found my KTM 1290 GT which I love! It'll only get swapped for the 1390 version if and when it arrives. My fun is having the ability to carry luggage - though I'm doing a lot of trips with just a Kriega on the rear seat these days - and comfort on long distance days, plus Track Mode idiocy for the mountains etc :). This bike suits me almost perfectly.

Which BMW are you obsessing over? I had use of a 1300 GS in Portugal for a week or so, mostly off road, but on road it was pretty fun too, even on Karoo 4s. I like the look of the new 1300 RS too, but I've got used to 175hp and refuse to drop for now! If you're in dealership price range, Bahnstormer always lets me (and I assume anyone) take a bike out for an hour or so.
