What film did you watch last night?

Batman trilogy over the last few days - 9/10

Absolute classic trilogy of films. I really cannot fault them much. Middle one is still my favourite with Heath Ledger's performance as Joker. Personally, I wish they had removed the mask from Bane in the 3rd film. Some things just don't translate well to the screen and this was one for me.

Jurassic World: Rebirth - 4/10

Rented this last night, not even Scarlett Johansson is saving this one. Film was watchable, just glad I didn’t see it at the cinema or waste money on the BluRay. The story was paper thin, some scenes were ripped from previous films and did we really need mutant dinosaurs for no other reason than they had no were else to put them.

Buried (2010) - 8/10

Starring Ryan Reynolds as a truck driver in Iraq who gets attacked by a group of Iraqis and wakes up to find himself buried in a coffin.

Brilliant film, highly recommend watching.
Very different perspective, but the original dutch The Vanishing is an excellent film if you liked Buried.

The Ballad of Wallis Island - 9/10

Watched this on a flight after a friend mentioned it to me after watching the new Partridge. Wonderful film. Exceptionally charming, surprisingly touching, bittersweet and amusing throughout in a very Tim Key way. The kind of film that makes you proud to be British.

House of Dynamite (2025)

The first half starts quite well but somehow looses any tension it's built. The second half is just the first half again from the perspective of the people we only here or see on monitors in the first half.

I felt a lot of what was depicted I'd seen before in TV shows like House of Cards and Paradise. It certainly had a familiarity about it.

By the end it was all just a bit meh!

4/10

A House of Dynamite - 8/10

Edge of the seat stuff. The 3rd act did slow it down a bit but anything Kathryn Bigelow directs is got be worth a watch - just look at her filmography. “When it comes to torture, I trust the lady who was married to James Cameron for 3 years.”

Watched it also. It was charming but more like a 7.3/10 for me. I think it was produced by Steve Coogans production company Baby Cow. Certainly good that films like this get made in this day and age.

'Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere' - This was ok. I'm a fan of The Boss but not a fanatic. Good performances but i dunno, just wasn't as good as i''d hoped but it was fine - 6/10
