What film did you watch last night?

House of Dynamite (2025)

The first half starts quite well but somehow looses any tension it's built. The second half is just the first half again from the perspective of the people we only here or see on monitors in the first half.

I felt a lot of what was depicted I'd seen before in TV shows like House of Cards and Paradise. It certainly had a familiarity about it.

By the end it was all just a bit meh!

4/10
Agree, starts great, gets repetitive, flops at the end - oh er missus!

3/10 for me.

Bugonia - Emma Stone plays the CEO of a pharmaceutical company who is being monitored by conspiracy theorist Jesse Plemons who is convinced she is an alien threat to humanity so Plemons and his cousin kidnap her.

Very slow burner but picks up pace. 2 main leads are excellent as you would expect. I can see it being a marmite movie but I liked it. 7/10

Springsteen: delivery me from nowhere,
6\10. Not really sure who this film is for, big fans like me will know the story all ready, and non fans won't really understand it, it saving grace is it acting, which I have to say was top notch, and off corse the music .
I just think for those that don't know the story behind the songs\person they not pick up on what going on

Primitive War - Vietnam 1960's. A team is sent into the jungle to try and find a missing green beret squad. They find junkie scientists, Russians and dinosaurs. A lot of fun, at 2:15 it may have outstayed its welcome a little bit and dragged in the middle. But this had some decent production values and money had been spent. Jurassic Park meets Predator(ish) 7.5/10

Couple recent plane flights so clocked up a few films
  • Get Hard (2025) - Seen it before but do enjoy a daft Will Ferrel movie, 6.5/10 for me.
  • Sphere (1998) - Remember seeing this years ago but ironically I couldn't remember the ending.....which was a disappointment. Not a patch on the Abyss. 5.5/10.
  • The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025) - I didn't mind this, decent little suspense/thriller. Not something I'd rush to watch again but for what it is, a 6.5/10.
  • 28 Years Later (2025) - Hmm was fan of the first two but this was a let down, expected big things and it just didn't deliver. Ralph Fiennes was good but the film itself was all over the place. Another 5.5.
  • The Lost Bus (2025) - A little slow but very watchable, a disaster movie done well without any exaggerated action scenes or hero moments. Held my interest throughout, this one gets a 7/10.
  • Code 3 (2025) - Watched this one last and it was certainly a case of saving best to last. Listed as an action comedy and by its cover art it looks like it's going to be a wacky buddy comedy but it's certainly not. It's a dark comedy, come drama, part fly on the way with some serious and grim bits thrown in; plus a bit of 4th wall breaking for good measure. I really enjoyed this and by all accounts online its a very good representation of what its like to be an EMS/Paramedic. 8/10 this one.

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person - 7/10

Quaint little french vampire movie. No big scope but a good little intimate tale.

We’ve watched so much crap recently, terrible series (Last Frontier) and just meh films. So tonight we cracked open a couple of bottles and watched The Equalizer (2014).

No phones, no distractions, just got lost in a good old fashioned start to finish action film with some heart.

They literally don’t make them like they used to. And that’s only a decade ago!

Had absolutely nothing to do today, so the appropriate films came out. :D All on nice 4k Blurays.

Scream - Still as great as always. Still get huge amounts of enjoyment from the first kill. Just can't stand her. :D

The Return Of The Living Dead - Trash is taking off her clothes again! Tarman is so magnificently gooey in 4k.

Then the other half came down so my normal Halloween watch list went out the window but still got one not horror in.

Elvira Mistress of the Dark - Oooooh Cassandra Peterson.... :D

And finally... A romance film for the other half.

Warm Bodies - Romeo and Juiet with Zombies.

Shelby Oaks - 6/10

This horror mystery started well and I was really enjoying it for the first half. The story was told with a mash up style of found footage and flashbacks which if you like that style, was done well. But the second half it drifted into a generic horror cliche and the ridiculous decisions of the protagonist, just to keep the plot moving, knocked a point or so off.
