Terrible Jaguar re-brand

and also think their conclusion that Jaguar was not profitable enough and the way to fix it is to add another £50k+ onto their prices is ....... odd

Jaguar tried to move in to the low profit/high volume market and failed so it's not a conclusion of opinion that it's not profitable - the P&L for years says it's not profitable. But if the J of JLR tries for low profit per car but high volume and fails while the LR of JLR succeeds in low volume and high profit per car - is it that odd to move Jaguar towards the Land Rover method? I don't think so. Will it work though? I guess we'll have to re-visit this thread in a few years.

May have been posted before so sorry if it has but made me smile.

We need a strong Jaguar no matter what forms it takes.

you missed the important part out of my point however....... the part about their reputation for poor reliability and long wait times / dodgy customer services.
Even if you want to argue that that reputation is unfounded, i would say it is hard to argue it does not exist however. Surely that will have cost them a lot of sales / profits.

I will be interested to see what, if any effect all this has on their older cars..... maybe they will become sought after classics and go up in value.

or maybe i can buy a cut price F Type for a (post) midlife crisis purchase (one of my favourite remotely affordable ICE cars on the road)

I do take your point about landrover however.... their Defender bears no resemblance of the much loved farming vehicle i grew up with. imo its a shame really, i thought the point always was range rovers for the toffs and landrovers for the people who wanted a great off road capable vehicle without the pretentiousness.
however now they all are just for rich people where as the working farm vehicles are more japanese and the like. its a shame really but i guess the market does not lie :(

my dad has a mitsy shogun and that thing is almost bullet proof. He looked at a landrover (slightly older one admittedly he would not buy a brand new one) but could not see the point in a vehicle which was too nice to put a stinky soaking wet gun dog in, or a load of dirty waders and fishing gear etc

to be fair as much as i do not like the new rebrand... i almost think if Farage, Trump and GB news do not like it then maybe i need to re-evaluate :D
I think it is pretty universally disliked :D

The thing is... who was talking about Jaguar before they did the weird advert and jaGuar rebrand? Certainly got them some attention!

finance chief from TATA - hmmh , mardell had at least worked for jaguar before, with a finance stint, too.

CEO got the can and it's not even out yet.

The replacement doesn't look to impressed with having to oversee this, looking at his expression. People are gonna be fired :D

What's that got to do with Jag

I don't mind it, reminds me a lot of when the original TT was revealed many years ago.

Looks ok from the side, front obviously looks awful. Wheels are to large, the ride and handling will be even worse than current ones with the added weight as well.

Interior looks like a fancy bathroom.

It's designed by the same **** who designed the new jaG.

The Audi is fine. As in fine if you like your cars to look like a certain Austrian painter with four nose rings.

Come to think of it, the concept jaG and the Audi both have a certain Großer trait to them both :D.

1.9bn...Is the damage this has caused. All because they were dumb enough to outsouce their IT to India.

The whole company is shod. I hope tax payer's money is going to bailing this out.

correlation doesn't imply causality I guess, but M&S shared Indian bed partners
eg.
The breach appears to have originated through a third-party supplier. M&S’s IT helpdesk is run by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and executives later admitted that the hackers first compromised this contractor. In practice, the attackers used social engineering to trick helpdesk staff into handing over access: they rang support desks posing as internal IT, obtained credentials or password resets, and then infiltrated the M&S network.
but like with british steel foreign owners - hopefully chancellor ensures we are not blackmailed and that the owners/shareholders share some of the costs

e: need to get in with the kids forgot to ask chatgpt 'tata IT consultancy known contracts'
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR): A 5-year, $1 billion contract was secured in September 2023 to transform JLR's digital services.
Other notable clients and engagements
Transport for London (TfL): A 10-year contract was signed in 2021 to transform the administration of taxi and private hire vehicle licensing.
Aviva: TCS has been a long-term partner with the UK-based insurer and signed a new, large contract in January 2024 to expand the relationship.

.. out of the mouthe of babes.

I hope it's not.

Well good job it hasn’t then.

Suppliers to JLR have privately expressed anger about the government’s messaging, which appeared to take credit for helping them. An executive at one parts maker said: “In some ways the government played a blinder with everyone thinking they bailed out JLR. They did nothing.”

Several sources told the Guardian that none of that loan facility had gone into JLR’s accounts, nor had any gone to any of its suppliers. Instead, the carmaker used its existing large cash reserves for its scheme to help suppliers.
