——The Official Battlefield 6 Thread——

It's a bit of a mixed bag from my experience.
Yes there are a lot of games where it's a steamroll one way or another, some times it's a complete reversal turning a 500pt deficit around, others are a balanced grind to the end. There are more steamrolls than I'd like to see. However it's an age old problem I havnt seen any developer effectively solve in my decades of gaming.

I'd like to see some QoL updates to the custom search. Option to exclude already started games. Option to search for closed weapon only.
they need to somehow punish people that leave a server mid game - I find that once a team starts loosing some people log out, effectively making the loosing side even worse off.

I understand we all have occasional real world reasons to leave mid game, but I'd happily back some system that reverts all gained xp/unlocks if you exit a losing team after playing over 5mins or 1/2 the round time (whichever is greater). Could possibly even add a 2nd check that the XP roll-back happens if they join a new game within 5mins - as it implies they're happy to keep gaming, just logged as they were losing.

I think it's League of Legends that flag mid game quits onto your account. Do it enough and you get put into a low priority queue or a quitter queue or something. Any system needs a 3 strike and your out system with strikes that decay over time. That resolves the handful of times you need to quit a match legitimately.

I had a complete King of the Hill challenge which confused me for a bit. Didn't remember ever seeing that mode before. Had a hunt around and yes, it's not in the Multiplayer list, found it only in the custom server filters. This UI finds new ways to irritate me.

Had a few good games over the weekend although I'm finding I've had enough after 2 or 3 games if I'm not on voice with mates. Too many people running around as headless chickens and not fighting for the objectives.

i ended up disabling voice chat though the other night there was only so much i could stand from getting distracted by some random french or german guy shouting down his mic constantly along with loud mouth breathers and coughing
not disabled, but yes, 90% of time voice chat is breathing and background noises, 10% complaining, 0% anything useful
I just mute them in squad management

Edit: no just remembered there was 1 (one) instance where a medic was running to me, asked me in voice not to skip timer and rezzed
...so that we both die half a second later

I can't see it working here. But war thunder uses a crew lock mechanic where you can't enter another game for approx 8 minutes or until the round you left ends naturally.
They won't want to implement anything like that though as it will probably drive away casuals and the younger generation with no patience/attention span.

They already seem to implement a system that improves reward for staying the course.
I don't see why they couldn't penalise leavers with a reduced xp rate when bailing. Perhaps have that stackable over multiple games the more you bail the slower you xp progression rate?

I like this method, a few games use this locking leavers out of joining new games until the game the left is over.

Problem is it also penalises people with poor internet connections and/or Battlefield games don't tend to have the most stable back end - some days the game will boot a bunch or even all players out several times over a few hours, etc.

Poor internet connection dosnt wash these days. A good stable internet connection is a pre-requisite for modern online play especially a reasonably fast paced shooter. Battlefields servers have been pretty rock solid so far. A few outlier situations wouldnt significantly impact people progression.

Still loads of people who don't have the most reliable internet connections especially in places outside of the UK but even in the UK, which all has to be accommodated for.

they are all experience gained is lost

The message when you go to quit mid-game says something along the lines of 'match completion xp will be lost'. This suggests that anything gained up to that point won't be.

That's a bad system, what If you join a server that has a blatant cheater or even a team of Cheaters on? Then you're getting peanalised for leaving that server?

Any solution would be a compromise. The likelihood of actually joining a game plagued by effective hackers is small unlike the likelihood of players rage quitting because it isnt going their way. Why wouldnt you just quit out and join a new one if there isnt any penalty.
I do it if the servers hit reg sucks. I'll hop around games until I find a good one. There is nothing to deter me from it.

I wish they'd address these issues.

  • Keep been put into rounds that are nearly over (Conquest)
  • Anti-Air tank is absolutely useless, Jets & Choppers can flare reload way too quick with some jets staying up an entire round. This was not an issue in BF4.
  • They need to significantly increase XP for revival of downed team mates.

1 minute mark, tank turret gets blown off yet players still alive inside and able to use the mg, wtf.
Not surprising the game is full of bugs, Which is really unacceptable for how long the game was in testing along with all the closed testing, Open testing etc...they don't seem all that urgent on fixing stuff either.

There's also an issue with "Splash damage" I've noticed, When shooting someone behind stuff with a tank if you aim at a wall in front of behind them the splash damage should kill them like in previous battlefields, yet 9/10 just get a hit marker.
