**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Battery life on the OP15 is pretty mind blowing. 5 hrs SoT over 20hrs off charge.... and still 50% left by 6pm. And that's on mobile data no WiFi and that's including 8hrs of standby time overnight, I fully charged at 10pm previous night.

I couldn't kill the battery in 24hrs even if I tried. Battery anxiety finally defeated after all these years of smartphone. Top marks OnePlus.

And it fully charges in around 40 mins. The benchmark has been set.

That's great but likely get worse over time
I had great battery life on OP13 , 7-9 SOT would get to next morning with 30-40% left

But now before bed it needs charging usually have 20% left need to check SOT since the update to oxygen 16 , had it since release battery health now at 98%

I think it's more to do with installing more stuff overtime and it's synching more stuff in the background

Funny you mentioned that, I was shocked at how many extra services OnePlus were offering when starting up the OP15 for the first time. Nearly all of it had some sort of background stuff that would be going on. Had to decline every single one.

Until it happens to me I'm gonna keep singing the Op15's praises. The stamina on this things is bananas! Especially considering I'm on 5G which is a known battery hog.

8-10 hrs SoT.

I’m torn between the OP15 and the OPPO Find X9 Pro. I currently have both in hand.

The OP:
- is super smooth, smoother than the OPPO - this is due to the touch response chip.
- received recent update (301) two weeks before the OPPO
- the outdoor brightness is confusing, the specs state 1800nits but tests show it can get bright 3400nits in the photo app etc. some reviewers mention that it’s not as bright in direct sunlight - others mention it’s the exact same screen other than the 165hz in some games. Brightness in sunlight seems the same to me
- I prefer the Snap Dragon paired with the X85 modem and it supports more bands
- more case options in the UK
- the black is really nice

The OPPO:
- the cameras are better, no question. I’ve seen references mentioning that the cameras could get better with updates.
- the slight weight difference feels nicer
- I’ve seen quotes mention it has better eye protection
- the build quality is excellent.

Value:
OP cost me £700 with the free 46mm Ti watch
The OPPO is £929. So a £229 delta. However, I have added the OPPO to my EE account which is £80pm for 11 months.

Equally, the Pixel 10 Pro XL can be purchased £699 but the poor specs put me off. I’ve read about reception issues as it uses a sub-par modem, battery and tensor G5 processor etc.

However, I don’t game on phones but I am a heavy user so the battery performance is important to me.

I've only had to charge mine once every 3-4 days. It takes 20 minutes to charge from 20 to 80% using the 120w super vooc charger. Quite amazing

Yeah it's brilliant to finally be back on properly fast charging. I measured 10 to 79% in 20 mins! 30 mins 10-97%!

Edit - just checked GSMARENA times and mine are faster. However I went from 10% and they went from 0%. After 30 mins I gained 87%, they gained only 78%. Quite the discrepancy. All in all rapido!

I've now set the battery charge protection to 80% and will adjust when required. I like to fully charge the battery a few times when it's new.

Yea this battery is ridiculous... Nearly 10hrs SOT using mostly data, with some GPS as well as hotspot tethering. Just one less thing to think about, makes life that little bit easier.

Loving the phone so far. It's so so so smooth, really silky smooth. Only thing that's annoying me is the auto brightness seems to always be too dim, so have to change it manually. One thing I would say was better on my S24U is the speakers, the ones on the OP15 sound a bit flat, but I use buds most of the time anyway.

Not sure if it was a hardware or software thing, but my God it feels good to finally be able to keep all apps open in the background, and when go back to them they are open wherever I left it. S24U was constantly closing apps that were still running at random, or if they stayed open, it would never be where I left it but would be refreshed like it was just loaded again.

If you're a camera enthusiast it has to be the Oppo over the OnePlus. Otherwise the OnePlus has a decent shooter but nowhere near what the best can do. Even the Oppo is a little underwhelming for me personally.

The reliability of the camera on the Pixel libe is amazing however as said the rest of the hardware let's it down. Have a ganders at the upcoming xioami 17 Ultra. Due very soon. Will have a big battery and top level cams.

Yeah it can dim too much sometimes. I'm hoping it'll eventually learn. Iike thatvthe auto bright toggle is just a tap in the pull down menu.

I'm actually quite impressed with the speakers. I like that they're very balanced on both channels compared to the bottom one usually being better quality and louder. Both firing outwards too. Could do with more low end but phone speakers were never really gonna do amazing there. I do like what poco are doing with the rear bass unit. Better for me than a rear screen.

I was dubious before I got my Honor V5 a few months ago but I wouldn't go back to a big brand now. Battery is far better and quality seems spot on.

Must say I miss Vanilla android on my old pixel mind.

that 5800mAh battery does last quite well and seems even better after Magic 10 OS, don't think I have had a phone last as long, unfortunately they have a long way to go before they are as good at a folder as Samsung from a usability standpoint, Samsung multitasking, Camera and Dex mode interfaces put Honor to shame, I mean what is the point of shipping a desktop mode where half the apps don't work and you have to download alternate browsers etc, plus esolution support is shonky, surprisingly the older OS on my V2 did some things better, so they broke it doing updates, still it was almost half the price of the Samsung so I will cut it some slack.

It wouldn't work on my car kit either, kept connecting/disconnecting etc, the kit has had 20 odd phones on it over the years, no problem, contacted support, useless, managed to resolve the issue in their software and get it working by disabling BT LE, now it is rock solid but yawn how many settings and uninstalls/installs did I try getting to that just for reliable handsfree phone, so much time wasted.

Got a random glitch where the recents app switcher doesn't show the actual cards.

Homescreen, icons and status bar all now set.

Yesterday was a proper test of my Oppo X9 Pro battery.
I left the house at 8am and got back at 10.30pm, 90% battery down to 26% over the whole day.

I was in the office connected to WiFi so that obviously helped, but I didn't charge it during the day and I was listening to bluetooth music a large portion of the day which would have had a big impact.

So, my Poco F5 pro got damaged in the rain. Was a very bad day. Bought the poco f7ultra on black Friday for £375. Them my insurance paid me £450 for the phone hahahaha minus the £60 excess but I was happy with the upgrade.

Bit a week later the f8 was out but I couldn't wait.

These three were on my shortlist. I currently have an S23+. First the P10 Pro XL came out and the specs ended up being mediocre for the money. Then the X9 Pro came out and there were many reports of poor speakers. Speakers are important to me. After that the OP15 came out and the cameras have turned out to be poor. Likewise a decent camera is important to me. I might just end up going for an S26+/ultra next month.

Vivo X300 Pro?

Is anyone using a Xiaomi 15? How`s your battery life?

The battery was fine until the latest software update. Since retiring, I`m not a heavy user so it`s not much more than an ornament or a pocket watch these days :)

Phone gets switched off around 9pm every night and 8am start. Until recently, I`d easy get 2 days out the battery, now, I barely get one. Pretty grim for a £900 phone back in April.

I realise there may be an app in the background, but these apps were all there before the O/S update.

Big mistake reading through the last few pages. I`m thinking of going for a OP15 now :)

I had the 15 Ultra. And the battery life was indeed pretty abysmal before and after the update. Phone used to get pretty warm on 5G too where the OP15 stays unusually cool.

I don't think the 8gen 1elite helped matters. The 5 Elite modem seems to have stepped up in efficiency.
