Yeah. The ONT works similar to Virgin Media's old cable modems (I remember the Ambit 256 vividly, loved that modem, lol). All the ONT does is translates the optical signal into ethernet/electrical signals. You can essentially call it a fibre modem. It's a Nokia XGSPON ONT XS-010X-R, I think.
That's brilliant thank you. Yes I remember the ambit modems...they were the flat ones like the one below haha. I even remember the Motorola Surfboard modems.

I was only 13/14 when my dad signed up for Virgin back in 2008 (31 now), but I had quite a broad knowledge of techy stuff back then and wanted to learn more. Hence why I studied it and became qualified myself. Started experimenting with stuff from a young age, too. I think that's how a lot of people start who get into tech though. Yes
