Yeah. The ONT works similar to Virgin Media's old cable modems (I remember the Ambit 256 vividly, loved that modem, lol). All the ONT does is translates the optical signal into ethernet/electrical signals. You can essentially call it a fibre modem. It's a Nokia XGSPON ONT XS-010X-R, I think.
That's brilliant thank you. Yes I remember the ambit modems...they were the flat ones like the one below haha. I even remember the Motorola Surfboard modems.

I was only 13/14 when my dad signed up for Virgin back in 2008 (31 now), but I had quite a broad knowledge of techy stuff back then and wanted to learn more. Hence why I studied it and became qualified myself. Started experimenting with stuff from a young age, too. I think that's how a lot of people start who get into tech though. Yes :D That one! Damn the memories... Nostalgia rush...

You did very well and should be proud of yourself and I hope you feel your eager to learn was worth it.

I'm a lot older, so for me nostalgia is this modem, haha:-

I mean... the world is a mess nowadays (don't want to go into one of my doomer spiral tangents lol), but I do want to get into ethical hacking and cyber security (I've thought about making a YouTube channel and doing Linux related stuff + Scambaiting where I target scammers and troll them/tap into their networks and computers to prevent them from scamming actual victims). I'm currently struggling with mental illness and severe asthma at the moment, so these are just thoughts more than plans, but they're something I'm passionate about so I may pursue them. I'm a Linux enthusiast, so I talk a lot about that online. Not on here, but on other places. Not sure if there is a Linux section on here, may have to look, I check this forum a few times per year, lol. I browse as a guest a lot of the time, but only log in when I want to respond.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with mental health and asthma. It certainly can't be easy and only those who have it would be best understanding how you feel.
As for setting up a YouTube channel and ethical hacking... I say go for it and don't look back as you may later regret it if you've not followed your dream.

Makes you wonder what's actually going to happen?

They've said sorry and that's probably it.

Their email states they have activated their security measures, bit late now no? Horse has bolted.

That linked article also details much more information that has gone missing than what the email suggested.

Yeah, The horse has bolted. No sign of a token gesture of 1 month service credit. I plan to activate Identity Plus membership tomorrow, but damage is done.

I see this horse right here bolting as soon as his contract expires in over a years time. It will be back to Virgin and I shudder at that thought.

Well done BRSK! I'll give you a slow clap

The email did say no password information has been exposed, so it could just be basic data. Also, they also did mention that it isn't a normal data breach, a company accessed something without notifying BRSK, weird though to be honest. We will see how this story unfolds in the upcoming weeks and months, that's all we can do. Personally, I like BRSK, but I think that this may stain BRSK's reputation a little bit. I guess we will see though. Watch this space, I guess. Virgin had something similar happen back in 2019/2020.

Just joined BRSK 2gbps today. Run a home plex server with some other docker containers and ran into a NAT loopback issue with their supplied sagemcom wifi 7 router. Switched to the Asus AX88U as the main router and am thinking of using the sagemcom one as a wired AP upstairs. Couldn’t find a way to turn off DHCP so wondered if anyone else managed to figure out how to use it as a wired AP.

How do you go on with that Asus router as it's WAN port in 1Gb.?

Temporary solution haha

ah, fair enough. I have used that AX88U router since release, excellent for what it does, especially the 8 ethernet ports. Our FTTP is only 500Mb and so it works fine, but only with devices connected that do not need the 2.5Gb of the rest of our LAN. Showing its age in some respects, but still good.

Brsk is up for renewal for me, on 900/900 for £35. Wondering if I can get a could deal on 2gbps

Also EE are doing a 175£ voucher to switch which is mighty tempting though I don’t want to lose my symmetrical service :-/

BRSK is now £75 a referral, I wonder if you could start a new account and waggle another referral haha. The 2gig service is currently £35 a month as well, so you'd get double speed for the same £.

Dunno, sorely tempted by EE and £175 voucher, though not sure how EE compares
