What film did you watch last night?

The Lost Bus (2025)

A survival drama based on a true story of a California wildfire, starting Mathew McConaughy and directed by Paul Greengrass. A film that fits perfectly into the director's wheelhouse and McConaughy is always a pleasure to watch. I enjoyed this one.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

Rian Johnson's excellent revival of the whodunnit genre continues to deliver, with a cast of over the top characters and a well paced plot. This one is themed around a priest going to a provincial church with a dark past.

Craig looks surprisingly older than in the first movie and has apparently changed accent.

8/10 not quite there with the first but still a very good watch.

A Time To Kill (on Netflix)

Courtroom drama set a Mississippi town, in where racial tensions explode after a revenge killing.

Farfetched yet very watchable, as most courtroom dramas are. Good cast and some of the dialogue regarding racial tensions was excellent, particularly from the accused, but I’m still not sure of the message that the film was trying to convey… should some revenge murders be justifiable?

6.5/10 - A good journey with a wonky outcome that’s a bit too distracting for me.

We watched WUDM last night too and I was so relieved that Craig has toned down the horrendous accent and the foppishness from the last film. That really got on my nerves last time.
It's a good film although a little slow at times.
Netflix then showed a clip of the original Knives Out straight afterwards and Craig's aging is really noticeable, but I actually think he looks better in this third film.

GreyHound - 8/10

Solid WW2 naval warfare film. Hanks is Hanks, always good and the supporting cast do a decent job. Effects were decent and the ships looked realistic (I'm assuming no actual ships were used).

I don't know how accurate the film is, but it did a good job of portraying the situation and showed how helpless those merchant ships really were to u-boat attack.

American Graffiti (1973)

Never seen it. Bit of a weird movie in a way, it kinda doesn't have any real direction or seem to go anywhere whilst remaining quite entertaining throughout.

I barely recognised Harrison Ford in it, and Richard Dreyfuss looked so much younger than he did in Jaws despite only being 2 years prior.

Cool movie though, great cars, music and of course Wolfman Jack who I am familiar with from watching old episodes of Midnight Special.

Yeah it is a weird one. Produced by Francis Ford Coppola directed by George Lucy's and written by Lucus, Gloria Katz &
Willard Huyck.

Certainly feels more like a student film at time.

Driving Miss Daisy (1989)

A film that's passed me by and one I certainly wouldn't have been interested in back then. To be fair it made a pleasant change to watch something slow paced and easy going. The two leads are a pleasure to watch and played off each other really well. A perfect Sunday afternoon film.

The Perfect Storm (2000)

George Clooney and friends play Ant & Dec's celebrity cyclone on a boat. All joking aside, it's still a very watchable film even if you've seen it before. The CGI holds up remarkably well, considering the film is 25 years old, with only a few shots looking a bit ropey.

The Karate Kid: Legends 6/10

Not what I expected at all from the trailer. Quote good fun but still nothing on the classics. Nice bit of nostalgia at the beginning too.

The Roundup Korean movies 1 to 4 from 2017 to 2024 with Ma Dong-seok. if you like Korean action movies with a touch of humour as well these are fantastic. Not a single bad film and just fun from start to finish.

I've only seen number 4. Can I ask if there's anywhere to watch others at home or is it a case of buying them on dvd or blu ray

The Peacemaker (1997)

A so so political action thriller with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman. It has it's moments, but it's mostly forgettable and feels like they filmed a load of scenes they stole from other films and threw them together.
