*** Zelda: Breath of the Wild ***

Update: most of my sets are now 3 stars which I believe is the highest level, being based on the 3 giant fairies that I found.

The Major Test of Strength shrines can now be done in about 1 minute and I typically only lose one quarter of a heart in health. It's good for farming ancient machine parts and weapons and shields.

I am stuck on Devine Beast no.4 though from the Gerudo desert. I'm at the bit where I'm with the NPC (called Riju), leader of Gerudo town and I'm shooting bomb arrows at the 4 or 6 feet of the boss. Riju gives me 20 bomb arrows but I keep missing the feet and so I run out of arrows.

I have since done another bow and arrow quest up in the chilly mountains, top left of the map, where I had to shoot down a giant serpent. It had the familiar yellow eyes that you see around Hyrule. I had no problem with this quest as it was airborne which meant it was in slow motion when you fire arrows. After defeating the serpent, a new shrine was unlocked.

At some point, I'll need to return to Devine Beast no.4 with more bomb arrows.

Playing this with my daughter and having a great time. In the past I knew it was good but didn't commit to completing it on the switch 1. On the switch 2 the performance boost makes it such a joy.

It's doing a good job of developing my daughter's reading too as she patiently reads out the dialogue 99% of the time.

Roll on TOTK :)

I tried the early stage Thunderblight campaign again a few more times, the bit where you're on the desert on a sand seal firing bomb arrows at the boss' hooves and I still keep missing. I even had 75 bomb arrows on one attempt and I still ran out of arrows! So I've never been able to progress that boss into the 3D dungeon map part with the terminals let alone the actual boss bit after that.

So I went to Hyrule Castle, with lots of those robots / sentries which was becoming easy now with my Ancient set. After getting lost about a million times, I made my way into the castle. There were a couple of mini bosses (Lynels), then without warning, Thunderblight (the boss itself) was dropped on me. Changed to the Rubber set which made me largely immune to him. Immediately after that was Ganonblight, the boss of the game. Switched back to Ancient set. It was mostly arrow work using multi-torrented bows and hack 'n' slash when he was on the ground. There were later phases that I couldn't / didn't figure out, so I used that bubble shield thing that makes me briefly immune and deals a lot of damage that you can use 3 times before it goes into cooldown. Then I kited the boss until the bubble shield was ready again and used it 3 more times. That was enough to get him down. After that was secondary Ganon fight called Ganonshadow which was no problem. Got all bosses down 1st attempt.

Then it was end credits.

Is there an endgame in BOTW? It's quite common in the Mario games to have optional higher levels after completing the main story. These levels are typically more difficult than the base game and they can get insanely difficult.

The equivalent for BoTW is probably the expansion DLC which adds the Master Sword Trials and Champions Ballad story, which offers a little more challenge iirc.

Otherwise the post game is more about doing all the shrines etc if you haven't already.

Realised I've not played this since September! So easy to just pick up again though.
Went to a place and saw a white horse but I can't tame it as I don't have enough stamina. It's part of a quest too.
Don't tell me where this is but the first time I played I found that snowball mini game which I used to grind out for rupees and I have not been able to find it this time around :D

Thanks :-) I do remember seeing a DLC option in the main menu now that you mentioned it. I have the physical cartridge then I can stack the DLC with it.

My heart number in the end was 23 which is 20 more than at the start amount which would total 80 completed shrines and my stamina total was 1 complete circle (5 fifths) above the stock circle from 20 further shrines. That totals 100 shrines. So I have probably done most of them. Something I then later realised is that your maximum possible hearts is 30 because I ate some food that gave me 8 over-hearts (the yellow ones) and it totalled to 30 (23+7) rather than 31 (23+8).

I only briefly touched on the horses as I found travelling between the shrines was sufficient for me and never seen a white horse, but I did have a bit of fun with the rented sand seals.

You can see how many Shines you've done on the loading screens, it's the number next to the diamond shape.

I think there are a total of 120 shrines in the base game, and more shrines are added with the DLC - I think 16 more but not sure.
