I’m looking to buy a camera. I’m looking to use it for hiking, vlogging YouTube videos and photography in general. I’ve a budget of around £600. Would anyone be able to help??

You could do that with a decent phone. I would say iPhone 17 but that's £799. Why do you want the camera and which aspects are most important to you?

I think the ability to buy accessories such as lenses etc is most important. I’d like something that you can built up over time if that makes sense?

Something like:

Do you want to buy new or secondhand?

What photography subjects will be most important to you, e.g. wildlife, landscapes, architecture etc.

At this price point, I’d go used or grey market Sony A7iii, amazing camera and perfect for a beginner.

Or the Sony SV-E10, flip out screen for vlogging, 24mp so perfect for general photography.

Hiking...so small, vlogging means flip out screen and perhaps IBIS.

Go used, perhaps of the Sony A6xxx series would fit your needs. Fuji line wise, the one I am thinking of would be XT4, X-S10. Both are slightly over your budget.

An A7 iii is probably out of budget with a Lens included. They typically go for about 600 with body only.

That bundle you linked seems like a decent and comprehensive starter kit. Enough to get a good photo, but plenty of room for improvement. Could be worth a shot to try your hand first before spending more? Not sure how experienced you are with cameras! :P

I can't remember which A7SII or SIII camera is the one everyone got. One of them had a big leap from the previous one. Like you should never get the A7II and much better off saving more and get the A7III because while on paper there is 1 generation difference, in reality, it is more like 4 generations. A72 was very close to A71 and A73 was a much bigger leap forward than say A73 people had expected.

I’m not that experienced tbh. I’ve had them in the past but nothing that was worth anything.

If you are serious about vlogging then you need a flip out screen because you need to be able to see yourself. Your criteria is basically like everything all at once. Photo, video, vlogging.....it's essentially jack of all trades, master of none.

The Sony A7S series is the master of video, it isn't really that great for photos, I think off my head it is like a 12mp sensor? While it is fine, I mean you can print A4 with that but personally I want at least 24mp.

The A73 is the perfect Master of all trades camera, the 1st IMO from Sony, A74 would be even more ideal with its flip out screen. On the Fuji side it's probably the XT4 (when they added in IBIS). The XM5 is worth considering but it's a bit too expensive. Both have flip out screen.

I see what you mean. Okay then what if I upped the budget to say £1000. But bought a camera for photography and then something like Dji Osmo? Maybe that would be better. Rather than as you say expecting one item to do everything.

The Osmo is amazing for vlogging, photo wise it is okay, because it is a FIXED focal length. It's fine but I wouldn't think it is that much better than some of the flagship phones (depending on how much AI they baked their photos in).

Not the R2. It's a VERY landscape focus, Photo focus camera.

The Auto focus is not as good as the A73.

The A7R3 is better.
