I started down the Ubiquiti path a few weeks back with a UNVR Instant + G5 Turret Ultra, moving across from a Blue Iris setup.
I've fitted a WD Purple 3TB (WD33PURZ), but do find the drive seeking is too noisy to be in a quiet room so will need to see what I can do as far as isolating it a little. The UNVR Instant power consumption is around 11W to 13W with the one camera active but powered via a separate POE switch.

I would also like to get a Cloud Gateway, but from what I've read it's complicated by the Sky router (FTTC) not having a bridge mode.

Above is a good offer, don't pay any real money for a VDSL modem in 2026. You see people on eBay wanting £30+ for the Openreach modems that are 15 years old now and they just aren't worth that. Neither would I advocate for buying a new DrayTek model at £100.

If you can't find something for close to free then look at picking up a BT Business Hub - these are available for under £15, and can be put into bridge mode where the consumer hubs can't.

Painful. I chucked 2 of my HG612's out a couple months ago thinking the value would have dropped from the £15 I paid each. If I'd have known I could have doubled my cash I'd have defo been an eBay gauger.

I gave an HG612 away for free on Facebook after trying to sell it for a while. Definitely regretting it now, because I'm back on FTTC after ditching Virgin Media.

That's rough.
I remember when I was on FTTC manually forcing the sync rates on my HG612 about 10% lower to give a more stable line for that sweet sweet fastpath.

I have an old 130, will chuck it on mm for postage if you want
Thanks for the generous offer, but with my current post count (and rate) I don't think I'll have MM access anytime soon.
I'm also likely to be moving in a few months so I was also thinking I'm probably better to hold off and go straight to fibre.
