They said they would give further updates, so will see what they say. But, I would be willing to bet all my money, that the reasons they reduced their workforce is the same reason that most of the other layoffs and closures happened, because they were unable to secure funding for the projects they were working on.

And I think you are 100% right there.

The whole game industry has contracted, plus Meta have really scaled back on funding games in general, so there's fewer funds coming from the main VR platform owner.

Also the Meta store has got increasingly worse over the last couple of years, with really poor discoverability.

It's getting better lately. It's something that they have worked on. Developers have been complaining about it a lot, saying they are losing income etc. But, despite that, those same developers also say that it's still a ratio of 70/30. 70% of their income from Meta store, 30% from Steam.

It used to be 90% Meta and 10% Steam

Valve or Meta not wanting to publish, and the devs not able to self fund. This is though Meta has been taking resource and focus away from Steam so I do kind of hold them to account especially when they buy up studios and then stop the work

Oh, will you stop.

Since the Quest line of headsets have been released, if you read of the analysts reports, VR engagement has gone up, retention has gone up, Developers revenue has gone up. And now there is a massive downturn in the gaming industry which has caused wide spread closures and layoffs in the last few years. Like we are talking about 50K jobs. But you are holding Meta to account for taking resources and focus away from Steam? LOL. Do you follow the news at all? There were a load of cancelled games last year. Were they all Meta's fault too?

Studios merging or been bought out happens all the time. Projects getting cancelled, postponed or changed, happens all the time. Meta has taken over 9 gaming studios and only 2 of them have closed down. And one of them only released 1 game in 9 years. And all the workers in that studio were moved to another Meta studio.

You can blame Meta for a lot of things, but the situation in Cloud Games isn't one of them. Probably the only reason they can stay open at all, is because of their sales on the Meta store.

I do I just dont agree with your analysis, dont like it fine but dont tell me what to do please.

I do blame meta for buying some amazing VR studios and running them into the ground and for destroying the best VR e-sport, Echo Arena. Meta/Facebook when they were Oculus really pushed the software envelope and some of the games from that era are still among the best VR games ever released. They let the IPs rot and the games languish on the PC store and never go on sale.
They don't even finance Quest 3 versions of some of the ones that'd work great on Quest 3 (From Other Suns for an example).

My fear is some day Meta will close the PC store and these games will no longer be playable.

I am sorry, "Oh, will you stop" or "Oh, will you please stop" is just an expression we use around here. It's an exclamation, kind of like "Oh, come on" or "You can't be serious" etc.

You don't agree with my analysis, ok, where is your analysis? Other than two vague statements you have already made. And What does "taking resources away from Steam" even mean anyway?

How do you think Cloud Games has survived for 6 years with just one game? And they also supplied free DLCs and content update for that game. It's certainly wasn't on PCVR sales.

What studios have they run into the ground? And you know that Echo Arena situation wasn't as cut and dried as you make it sound. Ready at Dawn even admitted on discord that Meta gave them the option to keep the servers up and running but Ready At Dawn turned that offer down.

It would be up to the developers of From Other Suns to make a Quest version of the game. They released it, then basically forgot about it. People have been asking the developer for years to make it happen.

Not sure what they are going to do with Lone Echo(1+2), Asgard's wrath and Stormland. I doubt those games will go on sale again. However, they are definitely worth the price currently been asked.
