What do gamers actually think about Ray-Tracing?

GTA6 will set the bar later this year and HL3 will set the bar this summer for physics :p

As an aside the King Pin source code is hilarious - the whole game is held together by pages and pages of nested conditional statements hardcoded to prevent it crashing and to fix level design issues they didn't have time to sort in the editor, etc. they must have been under a lot of pressure to just ship it.

Its not Ray Tracing.... not exactly, not yet. Its more Akin to UE5's Lumen, Its the new 'none Ray Tracing' graphics option, Ray Tracing actual will come later, because of the literally infinite draw distances in this game existing Ray Tracing options just don't work so they are developing their own bespoke Ray Tracing, this is a developer who developed their own bespoke agnostic upscaling tech because they didn't like FSR, and yes its better than FSR 3.1, very noticeably so. No its not as good as DLSS 4, which isn't agnostic.

Personally i haven't noticed any difference in textures, they have always been very good, but the new lighting does contrast better.

Some gameplay, derelict rock cracker, the objective is to go through various tasks to reinstate it, activate it and gather the materials it produces, those materials are used for crafting.

At some point I'm going to have to log into SC for more than 5 minutes and do some of the newer stuff.
