Finished up Resident Evil 2 last night and I'm genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed it - it's not what I was expecting.

Thought it was going to just be pure horror with loads of jump-scares so was pleasantly surprised when it had a good mix of everything, found the level design very good. Was a bit miffed initially as to how short both Leon's and Claire's stories were until I realised that they both have two stories that are different from the first.

Going to get through Pragmata before hitting RE4 just to break it up a bit!

Yeah for sure, the longest period of time my internet hasnt worked for is 1 day in the last 15 years, so I'll not have an issue at all

There is a minority that may be affected though, such as people in very remote locations - like military members working overseas etc
Same, my internet is barely ever out of action but we only have to look back to last year when PSN went down for several days. What happens if the 30 day timer for several of the single player games you like to play just happens to coinicide with a similar outage in the future ? You're stuck until they fix things on their end.

All things considered, this policy change will likely have a low impact for most people but what issue does it resolve ? It's just another thing that Sony is doing that adds friction for the end user. Death by a thousand cuts.

This is what I'm interested to know.

Why would they implement this now? Was there a large volume of users buying games then not having any form of internet connection for over 30 days? It seems like it's such an unneccessary thing to change.

Is to do with game sharing via the main console??

Didn't realise its out yet, will jump on as soon as I finish the new D4 expac

I didn’t realise either but pre ordered the deluxe edition off the back of Returnal and it had early access.

Got to the first biomes boss last night in my first run, and died :D

Absolutely loving it so far though, it feels a lot faster paced then Returnal somehow

Latest theory is that it is to people using Jailbroken consoles were extracting an indefinite license and the refund the game before the 14 day refund period expired:

Apparently the way people have found it works is instead of you being issued a perpetual license for a game when you first buy it, you're given a 30 day duration one that gets the buyer passed the 14 day refund window. Once that window is closed you are then issued a perpetual one. As Armageus said it's speculated that jail broken console users were buying the game, extracting the perpetual license from the console and then refunding.

Mystic explains it well:

The "official" Sony reply to the DRM change is

"Players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. A one-time online check is required to confirm the game's license, after which no further check-ins are required."

(I say official in that it was 3rd hand information that was supposedly told to a Gamestop employee)

Do Sony even allow for refunds in the UK?

Every time I've bought a game I've got to sign away my rights and when I've read about refunds it's usually NA-based consumers getting 'one-time' refunds through CS. And reminds me of the difference in No Man's Sky & Driveclub in the US vs. UK consumers when those hit.

If you haven't downloaded the game then yes, but otherwise no unless the game is absolutely broken. I tried a couple of times a few weeks ago to get a refund for a PSVR2 game I bought last summer which had the multiplayer co-op mode removed after just 9 months, they just kept repeating their policy at me.

Had a quick go with it earlier and yeah a feast for the eyes and ears oh my goodness. Bank holiday weekend I am looking forward to getting some decent time with it.

Did the 1st biome last night, I’m hooked already!

Realised I could enable my Sonos sound bar to output Dolby atmos through the Pro too, which automatically sets it to the same in saros setting and oh baby it sounds phenomenal :D

I was just thinking about soundbars, I've a Samsung QN90F and a PS5 Pro and currently using the TV speakers so the only I'm missing in my setup is decent sound

I've no space for a sub really and don't care for thumping bass I just want clarity, Samsung has that Q Symphony so I was thinking of getting an all in one Samsung that supports it but does anyone else have any other recommendations and do you connect your PS5 to the soundbar and then the TV or just output from the TV to the soundbar?

From what I remember when I briefly looked into, not many soundbars cater for modern console pass through

Thinking of getting Sea of Thieves. Anyone got it? Worth it for £25?
Not really, unless you have a bunch of friends you can group up with every session. The game has been out for several years and most of the playerbase are waaayyy ahead of you ... many will take advantage of that to kill you repeatedly etc. A solo mode has been added but it's rather bland and doesn't give full access to the game's content ( you need to play in the PvP mode to unlock everything ).

Ah, thank you. I'll give it a miss then.
