By your existence you contribute to the nations GDP, sad but true as it seems we cannot exclude growth from the economy (or even create it).
And you are right, in the mid nineteen sixties, i remember my parents concluding that to be born british was a very lucky thing. After spending a decade living and working in Africa.
Yeah I contribute in a money sense.. But for me that isn't something to be proud of. That's just living. If I moved to the USA and paid tax there.. I wouldn't suddenly be proud of the USA
If the UK split in two.. I wouldn't suddenly not be proud of the half I wasn't in. It's just lines on a map.
