What TV shows are you currently watching

not a recommendation as such but it *may* be ok if you don't mind fairly low budget.

I just saw the 1st episode of La Brea

I had never heard of it before and only discovered it now because I was wondering what else Jon Seda had done after leaving Chicago PD .

it is fairly generic but if you enjoyed Lost and Teranova back in the day it may be worth your time (it even references Lost in the program so the writers make no bones about what it is trying to be!)

Finally (and no spoilers) I am always wary of watching random scifi due to then almost invariably ending on cliffhangers and being cancelled but according to Grok at least, it does end "properly" without any major unanswered questions - which doesn't mean it has a satisfying ending... just that it ends.
 
Parks and Rec is a great shout, haven't seen it for years but remember enjoying it whilst I didn't really click with The Office at the time (although I should probably give that another go!)

Watched a couple of BBC comedies recently which I've enjoyed, Daddy Issues, Such Brave Girls and Film Club, have started Things You Should Have Done which is on the border of funny/odd (but without being funny) for me.

I enjoyed La Brea a lot. Also yes it had a proper ending.

Binge watched Twin Peaks series 1, 2 and the prequel film 'Fire, walk with me'

Loved S1, loved S2 until we find out the identity of the killer and then it dropped off big time. FWWM was good as well.

Will crack on with S3 at some point to complete the set.

7.5/10 overall. Would have been higher if not for 2nd half of S2.

You will want to seek out Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces film before you start S3.

I'm usually an AppleTV fanboy but I find the accents, or lack thereof, really distracting in Star City. Why are all these Russian's speaking perfect British English!?

It's a bit of an odd choice because I think streamer audiences have demonstrated they're happy to watch mixed language programme or at least English in an appropriate accent.

It is an extended series of deleted scenes from FWWM that didn't make it into the release of that film, about 90 minuteswroth.. It adds more lore and expanded sequences, and adds in familiar TV characters that were completely cut from the film. The is also a fan edit which attempts to splice in these extra scenes back in to FWWM to essentially make it a directors cut, but the general consensus is to just watch it straight after FWWM to flesh out the whole experience.

It was commercially released in 2014, not sure of how it is currently officially available. The fan edit version is your typical non sanctioned bootleg affair which reddit may be able to help find. But as I say, you probably want to try and find the original first.

am a few episodes in and it's ok..... I gotta say tho - and it's such a small thing I dunno why it is bugging me but...... -
they went hunting rabbits. I know it's only fiction but it just shows an utter lack of research for the period they are meant to be representing.

it's not like there is a shortage of animals they could have used for food. For me it's just lazy and breaks the 4th wall (unless there is a reason explained later I guess).
 
the BBC started reshowing 'Spooks' (from the early part of the millennium) on Iplayer during the pandemic. and back then i watched every episode. i've gone back to watching selected series' from it

the series' with Richard Armitage as spy 'Lucas North' are my go-to episodes now. when i'm stuck for something tho watch i fire up Iplayer and watch them again. i'm almost at the point where i can recite the scripts almost word for word

i still enjoy it. it's not a patch on 'Slow Horses', but still has that unique sense of Britishness about it

If you like Richard Armitage, you could also try Berlin Station. Not sure where it's streaming though now.

It's on YouTube in about 40 different scenes/part. Will watch it in bed later. Thanks mate
