Ask your doctor to prescribe a backbone.
Doesn't matter if you have a backbone or are made of jelly when they can walk through your front door and take your assets to cover the CCJ.

I think the BBC needs to reduce its costs, get rid of over paid presenters, stop making content that isn't in English, Educational content like bitesize should be under the mandate of and funded by the DFE, the number of channels should be reduced until the transmitters are turned off and then it can only be accessed via iPlayer / Freely behind a paywall because there are some people that still use it despite not paying.

Yes, obviously.
The point was more that people need to show some resistance to it rather than taking it up the backside unlubed, then complaining about it afterwards.

If / when it ever happens I'm sure people will be writing to their MP's, outrage will be expressed in the press and there will be change.org motions demanding it be debated in parliment and repealed.

But CCJ's are pretty much automated and just rubber stamped by the court most people aren't going to want to attend court vs coughing up the money.

You never know the opponents in here might be lucky and get a poll tax moment but I doubt it.
We aren't France I can't see people rioting in the streets for £200 either; a few days off work without pay for court appearances would cancel out any savings even if the court said you didn’t have to pay which they won't...

It being applied like the poll tax instead of per household would be a fairer way of charging for it should it ever happen.

If they can wangle the TV tax into council tax then what else can they put in there and where does it stop, this has to be a line in the sand for everybody.
People like us that don't use the BBC are a minority the rest still want their fix of Eastenders, Strictly and the Archers those people won't be going on protest marches.

God forbid someone have a back bone against blatant tyranny.

You can say this. But the words are hollow.
Same attitude as the people saying they were going to cancel Netflix. Yet on the whole it didn't happen.

Only say stuff like this if you're actually going to go through with it.

I could sit here and preach a tough stance. But I'd be lying.

Almost anyone with anything to lose is not going to sacrifice their future for 200.quid a year.

I'd say it's more cowardly to Pretend you're going to do something then back track when it gets too real.

If you're willing to get CCJs over this I'd say you have bigger issues to tend to.

And that’s precisely why they get away with it.

jk btw, not deliberately being rude :)

Ha I know. Most of us have too much to lose to take a personal stand.

I'll not be happy about it. But I won't cut off my nose to spite my face.

Doesn't eastenders and the like only get around 5 million viewers nowadays, I don't think we are the minority at all and I think if all the fence sitters could actually work with us they would walk back ideas like this.

Well they’re going to have to decide soon as the charter is up at the end of next year and presumably they need to announce what the plan is in advance of that.
Although what’s going through the empty space between Nandys ears is anyone’s guess.
I mean she flounced off Twitter recently citing misinformation, so sticking up for the BBC is a bit hypocritical.
We shall see.

5 million Eastenders, 6.4 million Strictly, 31m weekly radio, people aren't happy with the price increases but it would actually drop initially if they made every adult pay aka poll tax or just stopped people from opting out.

There's a lot more choice now but I bet the majority that do pay are using at least some of the BBC services.

23.3 million TV licences vs 3.7 million that have opted out so yes we are still in the minority
