So £1200+ RTX6070TI for you next year then?

Yeah but the fps? I can't afford a 6090 ffs! And ain't paying a subscription!!

:p:D

Going to be interesting in a few years, whether many on here will end up doing that with the way dGPUs are going up in price.

£100 Geforce Ultimate PTX Unlimited tier, over three years will only cost you £3600,which probably be as much as an RTX6090 will cost by then.

Got to keep the gaming margins increasing in-line with what investors wanted from mining....AI.

After seeing a few examples of it, its definitely not just changing the characters, its having some effect on the games lighting as well and I think its affecting non character game textures as well and in Wuchan it makes everything look a lot sharper - though I believe Nvidia promised developers would be able to make it only affect characters - there are a lot of toggles for developers that this dlss 5 mod doesn't seem to have access to
It's supposed to offer masking, which also could make it actually faster in such games if it's limited to only small amount of the frame and not the whole scene. As I said earlier - compromises are necessary with such models, brute-force just won't work well.

Ye, but then it's same as Netfix, Prime and other subs - you don't feel the squeeze that much if you pay a relatively small amount per year. Humans are really bad in seeing the big picture, so most will fall for it easily. Just how our brains work, even smart people fall for such things all the time.

Have you seen new NVIDIA financial report? Revenue even higher and "Edge" computing (small part of it gaming) even lower. It seems like PC gaming itself is 1% or less of their annual revenue now. It's really not worth the trouble for such corpo anymore.

Well, i don't mind too much as long as I sell before the value of it plummets. What I hate most is cards depreciating while I have them. That is when you are actually loosing money.

If I buy it for £1200 as you say and sell it for £1000 or do 2 years later, I am ok with it.

Sure I would prefer if it was £500 though :D

DLSS 5 injected into Last of Us 2

Frankly... Yes, there's a difference but... I really couldn't care less in this game - cut-scenes already can have better details implemented by devs (they often do) and in game you simply don't see their faces most of the time (as you look at the back of the char mostly). It's... really not necessary to exist if only devs actually did a better job. :) But, it's also optional so really doesn't bother me much YET. However, I can bet over time this will go the way of upscaling - why bother making better faces and details, it cost time and money. Flip the switch, in half a day done. Publishers will drool all over it, gamers will pay the cost in performance hit. Or well, in normal times, but with current market and pricing - new people will never even see it, as they will go straight to mobile and PCMR will slowly die out along with their older GPUs as upgrades will be out of reach. So, it's a thing NVIDIA wanted to push for (AI) to get more monies from gamers, whilst at the same time they threw this baby out with bathwater by driving prices of new hardware to space.

Buying and then later selling my gaming GPUs always worked very well for me, for many generations I lost no monies on it and often gained (mining craze, then AI crazy when I sold 4090 for what I bought it etc.). However, when cards cross 1k GBP, selling them is a pin in the bum - that's a very small market of buyers, you often have to discount a lot to have it sold really (unless for miners/AI crowd). So ye, you'll buy it for 1200 and sell for 500 - that sounds about right. ;)

Maybe, but lots of other things to throw money at too!

The CEO thought gamers had £10000 rigs IIRC and I still think they would want to align the segments.

Wow DLSS 5 turn games into movie quality games

With movie level framerate to match eh.

Jibs aside, I'm genuinely looking forward to messing around with DLSS 5 as I've got a big fat graphics card so should have the grunt to actually use it with frame gen.

My only worry is, just like with frame gen etc - as long as it's used as a tool to enhance something already good, and not a crutch to prop up badly coded ****, then fair enough. However, looking at the absolute state of most game devs these days (the 'blue hairs' - you know what I mean), I fear the latter.

No thanks to the power draw (and noise and heat gen) along with the fps dump! Seems like a tech that is at early stages and 1-2 gens down the line in GPU hardware it will be as efficient as turning on Ray Reconstruction 4.5 which has no fps impact or power draw increase but is better IQ across the board.
